On Cyber Monday 2009, the share of US visits to the top 500 retail websites fell 9% compared with last year, according to Experian Hitwise.

For the fourth consecutive year, Amazon was the most visited retail website on Cyber Monday, this year receiving 15.53% of US visits among the top 500 retail websites, followed by Wal-Mart (9.54%), Target (5.16%), BestBuy (3.56%), and JC Penny (2.58%).


Among the top 20 websites on Cyber Monday this year, the following are the top 3 in traffic growth compared with last year:

  • Visits to Staples increased 61%.
  • Visits to Barnes & Noble increased 46%.
  • Visits to Amazon increased 44%.

Outside the top 20 websites, Apple recorded an increase of 71% in visits on Cyber Monday 2009 compared with 2008.
