Content Marketing Predictions for 2016 [Infographic]

by   |    |  4,446 views

Peek into the content marketing crystal ball and see what industry experts predict for the new year, according to a Curata infographic.

"In 2016, content marketing exits its crazy college years. Grows up. Gets a real job. Pays its own bills," states Ann Handley, author of Content Rules and Everybody Writes.

Companies will increase their investments in content marketing. "As they continue to refine their strategy, they will see this investment pay off through a higher number of sales-ready leads," predicts Curata.

This year, we will also see more varieties of content. "Interactive content will play an important role in content marketing as we strive for greater engagement and keep visitors on our site," states Ian Cleary, founder of Razor Social.

To read more predictions about content marketing in 2016 from content marketing experts like Arnie Kuenn, Marcus Sheridan, Michael Gerard, David Meerman Scott, Carla Johnson, Pam Didner, Doug Kessler, and Pawan Deshpande, check out the infographic.

Thanks for sharing this out Veronica! Content is key, just as long as the content is something the audience wants to see. I agree a lot with Ann that content was thought of as they way of connecting but people were missing the boat on the "So What Factor" and how it connects to their audience in the first place.

From a video standpoint, we are seeing a lot more push to Brand Entertainment (ex. Dell/Intell, Chipotle, Johnnie Walker). Interactive videos are also being experimented with such as Target's interactive YouTube videos they did for Halloween and some of the new online video ads for Volvo. These videos involve the audience directly by having them control what they are looking at within the video. In the end, we see two big factors making trends like this successful.

    1. Don't forget who your audience is and what they ACTUALLY want
    2. Stay creative and don't fall into cookie-cutter techniques
