|Bio||I began my career in business at age 9 by saving enough allowance money to buy a lawn mower. I began cutting lawns for little old ladies with blue hair in my immediate neighborhood. Within 6 weeks, I had more business than I could handle, and sold the company to my father for ten times what the lawn mower cost me. I was retained in the business, over the next 9 years, grew the business into a 400,000 per year complete yard care business.|
I spent a year working up the 'corporate' ladder for a grocery store while attending my final year of high school. Upon graduation, I was transferred to another city, and given the night shift with a crew of 30 and the responsibility for maintaining adequate stock for a store doing 1 to 2 million dollars per week in sales. Not bad for a kid of barely 18 and a half.
By age 19, I found a banker dumb enough to loan me a quarter of a million dollars and began my first dry cleaning shop. This first store hit break even by the third week of business, and eventually grew to chain of five stores.
During the 16 years I owned these stores, I began a writing career for a worldwide audience in various dry cleaning trade magazines. I assisted in the development of a very advanced Point of Sale computer system, and participated in the advancement of a garment tracking system using RFID chips. I also began to develop and refine numerous Customer Relationship Managment techniques, Data mining techniques, direct mail programs, extensive customer loyalty programs, advanced web portal systems, and a complete customer communication process across multi-media including web and e-mail marketing.
By age 35, I had sold off all my stores, and attempted to retire. After six weeks of watching Opra, I couldn't stand sitting on my duff, and began offering consulting services to the local market.
With the explosion of the Internet, an increase in world wide forums, and participation on various online communities, I've had the priveledge of working for/with many different companies across many different industries.
I deploy my particular skill set in a somewhat unconventional fashion. After a brief telephone consultation to assess your needs, I may provide you with a working solution, offer to particpate in the upside savings/increases in your sales or profits, or refer you to someone who may be better suited to your needs.
There is a great wide world out there, and I don't profess to know everything. I may or may not know more than some, but I sure don't know it all. I beleive that knowing when to say 'I don't know, and I need help' is the beginning of learning. Knowing when to say 'I don't know, but I know someone who does and can help you' is the beginning of trust, friendship, and a lifelong business relationship.
