Tagline Needed

I didn't think a tagline was essential until I read some of the articles posted here.

Perfect Parts Pilates is the name of my studio. My client base consists mostly of women between the ages of 36-70. They don't want to be 28 again, but they do want to be desirable, attractive, and fit.

Perfect Parts Pilates' mission statement reads" we are committed to enabling you to recapture vitality and youthfulness by reshaping your body".

Any help is appreciated.

You have 2 alternatives when selecting a tag line:
- something "catchy"
- something that reinforces your differentiating characteristics and strengthens your brand. (If I get a vote it goes for this type, but it's your call.)

If you want the 1st type, look for something that rolls off the tongue, has a rhyme and/or double meaning and is easy to remember. Conduct a brainstorming session for 15-30 minutes (or until new ideas dry up) and capture every idea - the good, the bad and the ugly. Your goal should be to get as many ideas without evaluating or filtering any. When you're finished, put the list away until the next day - then select the good ideas and any promising ideas that you can build upon. (Feel free to laugh as you discard the bad and the ugly!)

If you want the 2nd type, you first have to:
- define your differentiating characteristics. What makes you different from other similar businesses and why should people use you instead of your competition?
- define your target customers (buyers and sellers) in as much detail as possible. What are their: ages, income level, marital status, sex, educational level...?
-define what you want your brand to represent. In the future after your brand is established, when someone hears your company name what do you want them to think of? With this information, conduct a brainstorming session as described above.

Thank you all for your responses. You've given me the jumpstart I needed. Here's what came to mind:

1. Your parts embodying perfection.
2. Your body. Perfection personified.
3. When you know perfection is attainable.
4. When you know your body is priceless.
5. When you're ready to embody perfection.
6. You can embody perfection.
7. When you're ready to become a work of art.
8. You can become a work of art.

Help me choose!

Hi Dalfuen,

Quick question...and this is somewhat of a paraphrase but you'll be able to guess I'm sure....

Who said, "Fresh Hot pizza delivered in 30 minutes or it's free?"....

You're correct Domino's pizza did. That one tagline (Unique Selling Proposition) created an empire...It told about their product and when you can have it with a guarantee...huge!

So my point in all this rambling is test tagline ideas on people who have no idea what you do. Maybe you go to 25-50 people and say, "I need some help with a project and I have one question to ask you"

What do you think of when you hear, "insert tagline here"

Make notes and let the public decide.

Keep it simple, not some stuffy corporate legalise type.

okay dlafuen, who said;

Just Do It

We bring good things to life

Have a ____& a smile

The nightime sniffling-sneazing-stuffy-head-fever so you can rest medicine

Like a good neighbor____is there.

Billion dollar companies with simple taglines...AH you get the idea

Good luck

Dallas, I think you have a good start with your listed taglines, but I'm thinking, considering your target audience, who doesn't want to be 28 again, knowing their bodies aren't perfect (most of us are far from), you need to think of this.

I almost think you need something more ... "supportive" of the efforts of us "getting older women" who do want to be desireable attractive and fit, and just aren't there yet. We know we are far past the perfection stage, and I think that focusing on the perfection in your tagline would be a mistake. It would not appeal to me at all.

We have jobs, kids, husbands or relationships, housecleaning, dealing with stereotypes on a daily basis, busy, busy, busy lives (the younger half of your demographic, anyway), and fitting in working out is a challenge in itself - I don't want someone blowing smoke telling me I'm going to have perfection when I know it's just not gonna happen. I just don't have the time or energy for that.

I recommend that you keep brainstorming, and maybe something toward the aspect of helping me gain control of my life and my body. Not insisting that I strive for a perfection that's unreachable.

hope this helps, and man I wish you luck! The more opportunity women have to get out there and get healthy, the more chance we'll do it.

Best,
Jennifer
