Catchy Name For Late Night Coffee Spot For Police
Posted By: LisaCunningham on 6/10/2006 10:57 PM (CST) 300 Points
While in the process of creating a partnership between our local police force and the 3 assisted living houses I represent we came up with the following idea.

We will offer our police on the night shift a place to have coffee and fresh baked goods without cost to them.
This will result in a win/win situation in that we will be enjoying more of a police presence at night, while they can take their break in a cozy place that won't hurt their wallet.

The 3 house names are:
Davenport House
Huffman House
Rackleff House

The best suggestion in naming this new venture so far is:

Police Perks

Looking for ways to enhance this idea as well as name it!

Thanks!

coffee's hot ( Police use the word hot to describe a dangerous place)
Like for example they say LZ is hot it means Landing zone is hot the landing zone is dangerous and possible resistance.

In mymodesat opinion, "Police Perks" wreaks of questionable practice (gives negative connotation). I think you'd be better off with a more positive statement like "Winners" or "Security Sweets".

I called a buddy of mine who's in law enforcement and he had a couple of comments
1. Don't have cop in the name of it
2. Do yourself a favor and don't put police in the name in anyway. If your just naming a program it's fine, but if you put the name on your establishment you run the risk of people wanting to damage the property, or you will also create a spot where criminals will want to scope out before they commit any crimes.
3. Don't put any particular police logo's on your establishment. If it gets popular, they will come. Sometimes Sheriff's, city police, and state troopers don't get a long. If you cater to one group, cater to all of them. Officers tend to be territorial except in places they can all relate, eat, and talk off their day. That's always a good place to have.
4. Most important thing yet, if you are serving coffee, please make lids available for the guys on the run because hot, sugary coffee on your uniform makes for a long, sticky, smell night.

A couple of ideas I had were

Tri-house café

Keep a' lid on it café

Watchtower café

The safe house

The Holster (resting place)

Coffee cuffs

The Siren

Randavoo

Good luck,

Shannon D

It's exciting to see all of these ideas. Shannon D, our assisted living houses are simply trying to be a part of their community by inviting the local police at a time when our activity level is low...when our residents are sleeping. We would never have a sign on our building advertising the coffee thing. I think the safe house is good due to the fact it incorporates "house", doesn't have cop in the name, and doesn't have any negatives associated with it.
I'm leaving this question open til this evening.
Thanks to all!

"Where the law and coffee meet!"

Good luck with your concept. I hope it works for your organization and for the police officers.

Gidday Lisa - I'm wondering what part of the world you are in as it may hold criteria within the policing ranks that are different. Also am I right in concluding that your offering is only available to police?

The 'Police Perks' thing doesn't fit well with me as there's the idea of corruption that starts spilling over - 'perks' was/is a well known policing term for activities by members that might not pass an ethical standards test.

There are a couple of themes that run through policing ranks depending on parts of the world you live in.

In Australia and to some extent in other forces around the world, there's the notion of a 'thin blue line'. So your tag could be 'Thick black coffee for the thin blue line'

Again in Oz the letters TJF stand for an acronym tied to morale and working conditions. Your tag line could read 'TJF, but the coffee is great!'

More generic might be 'It's good coffee by Law' or 'Detect good coffee here'

I have retired the word "perks" from the running.

I'm in the US, (West Coast) MBarber!

We have started with the local police in our area. They have thought of us lately when asking for volunteers. Our residents have a desire to feel more connected to their community. In doing small things for different organizations, they have begun to feel more needed. A lot of them are medically frail, yet have very strong minds. Anything we do has to be approved by the residents themselves. This is just the beginning...they are calling the shots! They are toying with a charitable small business plan...who knows?

Assisted & independent Living is about freedom - freedom to travel without worrying about your home, freedom to spend time with friends and family, and freedom to actively pursue your hobbies and interests.
The role of our police force is to ensure that those freedoms are met. What a better way to tie the two together than to invite them to

Freedom Cafe

Sometimes all it takes is a little assistance with daily tasks for seniors to continue to enjoy independence. Assisted Living offers them the support you need to continue a vibrant and meaningful life.
Who hasn't had an opportunity to experience that assistance from our police force, join the fun at
