Greetings My Dear Associates:

I will put this question on several KHE areas. I am researching, and would like for everyone, not only on the site, but people you know to answer this question, and put the answers here. Your response may blast itself into your head immediately, or you may wish to think about it a while. Any way you wish, answer the question, honestly.

It is a simple question, with complex undertones. OK - This is the question you are to complete:

If everyone felt responsible...

That's it. Just complete this sentence.

Hi W.M.M.A.,

That’s really cool question.

If everyone felt responsible...

Then what?

• Well, how do we hold them responsible?

Or I will say?

• We could make a nice love story, where at the end everybody's kissing, and that's a happy ending

• It will solve all the problem

Regards,

M Bhor

if everone felt responsible -

- it would play havoc to the manager profession...
- it would be great for the personal training business..
- there would be a heck of a lot less litter on the highway.
- there would be no need for government welfare

If everyone felt responsible, we would feel guilty. Some would hide in shame, and others would be working towards correcting their actions so it wouldn't happen again.

If everyone felt responsible... individuals would have taken their first step towards changing their society for the better - step 2 would be to BE/ACT responsible

IF everyone felt reponsible... responsible would have bruise marks!

IF everyone felt responsible...ownership would be taken not assigned

Great question

I love what I am seeing here. Permit me to add another thought, along the marketing line...
As a follow up - What do you think is the best way for employees to buy into a marketing strategy. When I say buy-in, I mean totally embrace it...help make it infectious, since marketing must first be sold internally, before it could ever be sold externally. How can an employer show that they have accepted responsibility for the program, leading the way for employees?

May we keep this dialogue growing?

... the business of psychiatry would go up while the business of law enforcement and the courts would go down.

... neighborhoods would be friendlier.

... no child and no senior would go hungry.

... almost everyone could read and most of those would go to college.

... a handshake or a promise would be as binding as any contract.

As per part 2 - the best way for employees to buy into a marketing strategy is for management to buy into it. The best way for management to buy into it is if it is genuine, honest, and provides real value instead of hype.

The inverse works just as well too. Customers don't buy into what the employees don't believe in and employees don't buy into what management doesn't believe in.

Bottom line, don't oversell... or as me ol granpappy used to say, better to close your mouth and let em be surprised than to open it and get em disappointed.

If everyone felt responsible.... alot of people would be out of jobs (get it, like the police)!!!

When my office decided to take on a 12 million dollar capital campaign project, we needed the employees support. To get everyone pepped up, behind the idea and knowledgeable about the plan, we held several rallies. We decorated, brought food and held power point presentations. We had contest so that people could win prizes. Our office is spread all across the city which was why we had multiple rallies. It was great. It did help that all of our employees already feels so needed and valued.

Wow, that’s got the grey matter going!

1) If everyone felt responsible, we would all be accountable for our actions and can surely achieve what before may have seemed the impossible!

2) What is the best way for employees to buy into a marketing strategy? Give them ownership! Involve them in the process from its inception. Hold brainstorming sessions with employees that suit the various personalities within the organisation (e.g. take the creative types to a room full of colour with music, bean bags and silly toys; the analytical personalities will respond better to a more formal and structured method of idea generation - perhaps through a survey; and so on. Remember, keep the audience in mind).

Then, by continually communicating with the employees every step of the way and getting their input (and acting on it where appropriate), they will be more inclined to give you their buy-in and commitment to the strategy. This, in turn, will develop (as long as they still respect and feel included in the process) into the infectiousness you need to deliver it externally.

I trust this helps!

If everyone felt responsible......for the consequences of everything they do, there would be peace on earth.

I totally agree with the above, get people involved in a genuine way. Make a point of showing that their suggestions and contributions have been acted on. Dont make the workshops for a selected few, give everyone a forum that they can add to. Chances are some amazing ideas will come to light.

Just to clarify my point above about having brainstorming sessions for particular groups according to personality.... the reason for doing this is because often the creative/visionary types can take over the sessions and the other personalities tend to feel left out of the process.

If you can guarantee that all employees will feel comfortable enough to fully participate in the brainstorming session, then definitely go ahead with having it all inclusive.

Cheers

Good morning everyone,

If everyone felt responsible then the right people with the right skills would be placed in the right positions...but it wouldn't end there -- those people would then exhibit the right behaviors that would communicate those values and beliefs about the brand internally and effect a greater difference externally.

If we're all on the same page then we're all working towards executing the same strategy successfully.

Thanks!

If we all felt responsible, we would all argue over who was the most responsible,

To make people embrace an idea or strategy, fear is the most effective motivation.
