Buzz Marketing Ideas For Women 35-54
Posted By: janel* on 8/18/2006 8:19 AM (CST) 250 Points
I am looking for creative buzz marketing strategies for women 35-54 to participate in health screenings. Knowing this is a busy time in a woman's life, does anyone have ideas for creative places and unique methods to reach them?

Comment: When a Woman is between 35 - 54 they are never too busy when it comes to feeling good, looking good, staying or improving health, (not necessarily in that order).

After segmentation: i.e. Married women (with jobs), House wives (Middle class, elite) career women, mothers (single mothers, with jobs, jobless) etc.. you can prioritise which segment of that market you want to capture..

This little piece, just the tip of the iceberg.. admittedly, I'm going through the learning curve myself, and hope this triggers discussion.

Thanks! It certainly is necessary to segment, but I'm thinking there are some overriding places to attract all women - hair dressers for instance. Just don't know quite how to use that niche. J~

I like the hairdresser idea.. on that same wavelength..

Places like "Curves" or other aerobic spa health club for women...

Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Seatle Sutton - diet places with large % of women clients

And, finally coffee shops - check out the starbucks near you at 10AM...

Schools...
PTA's...
Women's groups...
Churches...
Associations...

Many groups have newsletters they may promote free or affordable screenings. Put together a presentation or mailer and start offering your services to groups and associations "special group rate" If they feel like it is of value, the group will often "market" for you via newsletters. web site links....

Good Luck,
Jo

Do you have any data on the effectiveness of newsletters? That's a question we've had several non-profit clients ask us. I appreciate the idea.

Well according to me some places you can reach women are:

- Through Children
- Through Apparel shops
- Through Grocery stores
- Through Spas

A common thread through that segment is jewelry. Hook up with a local, reputable jeweler and plan a ladies night out. No buying alowed, just time to get together, try on great jewelry, and make sure that they are taking care of themselves.

What's in it for the jewelry store? 1. Plenty of traffic 2. The women will try on much more expensive jewelry knowing that they cannot buy it that night 3.Put those items on "wish lists" and follow up on them!

Benefit for you? The audience that you were after and they had a great time!

Hi Janel,

I'm not sure if this will work. But you mentioned hair dressers. Usually, when I get my hair, nails, etc done, I get engaged in a conversation with the people who do my hair, nails... Why not tap these people to spread the word? It should be like a juicy bit of gossip for people to catch it.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hello Janel,

Great ideas above but I would like to add a couple more thoughts to your project.

A marketing campaign with all the schools and teachers in your area to help promote your wellness message during their parent and teacher conferences could add another dimension to your campaign. If your company can give out prizes to schools and/or teachers who has the highest amount of participation for your exams, you could even possibly get some press.

Although this campaign would only get the women with school aged kids, the press will be able to hopefully waken the other women to your message.

Thanks for thinking about a more effective way to break through the clutter of advertising messages to women.

Kindest regards,

Sandy Riedel

Hello Janel,

Nice question! I don’t know your product but you are going to offer to Age segments 35-55. In today’s world I would like to suggest E-Commerce will bring new marketing strategy for women.

According to NewPlus research - Women 35-54 spend an average of 75 minutes online per day (Media Metrix, April 2004)Yahoo, Time Warner (AOL) and MSN record the highest reach for women 35-54 (each have a reach of over 70%) (Media Metrix, April 2004) – Why don’t we use this for Buzz Marketing?

Let me give another example - more than 50% of the total female audience, ages 35-54 have played online games in the last 6 months (Media Metrix Fall 2003 Release); We can come with Buzz Marketing via E-Commerce.

Buzz marketing is not new; Internet technology has changed the way it's being used. Buzz campaigns are now being initiated in chat rooms, where marketing representatives assume an identity appropriate to their target audience and pitch their product. Personal Web logs (bogs), Instant messaging (IM) applications are another popular media for electronic buzz marketing campaigns.

I hope this will help!

Regards,

M Bhor
