Name For Small Healthcare Provider
Posted By: MikeMerkury* on 9/26/2006 9:08 PM (CST) 1250 Points
Really need some help. Have been brainstorming for days with owner/president of a new startup working to be soon publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange.Unable to find a good short "snappy" name.
Name must also be pronouncable in French. Business is a longterm healthcare provider and once public will expand in all kind of health related business (pharmacy, hospital, etc.) Domain Name availability is also very important.

My thanks to anyone that can help and also small prize will be given to the picked answer (amazon book of your choice, please provide book name and author with your answer)

Do you mean pronounceable or translatable - could it be a French name that "works" in English? Since French and English share so many words, it'd be lovely to use something that works both ways... here are some ideas divided into two categories... the noticeably French and the more dual-langue:

Very French:
Sante Care / health
Conte Health (a short story)
Marque Healthcare
Utile Services / helpful
Duree Health / duration
Attache Healthcare (dual-langue)
Cachet Services

Less French:
Montage Health
Precis Care
View Plus Healthcare (inspired by plus vieux - older)
Elan Services / elan
Healthcare Carte (inspired by a la carte - same in english / french)
Rapport Health (french - carry again, english - reputation)
Zestcare (dual-langue)
Vivant Services (dual-langue)

Best of luck... or bon chance!

Thks to all. A great start. Stafford is right on, what we are looking for is a "French name that works in English". But pronounciation is very important. The chosen name must have the same "sound" or "pronunciation" in french and english. Cachet is a very good example since the pronunciation and sound is similar in both language. Any other ideas ?

How about "BelleHealth".......sounds the same in french and english and is a play on words for "beautiful", "good", maybe even a stretch to "bountiful" since they're expanding ebyond primary healthcare into becoming a one-stop provider of all health-related

By the way, the folks in Quebec province are particularly fussy about the proper use of french (canadian frenc is different), so why all the work to try to crash english and french together? I think the Quebec people will turn their noese up at anything less than 100% true Canadian french.

BTW: "cachet" is not realy an english word.....it was a literal 'lift' from french. There must be more of those words out there that a language school (Berlitz) could rattle-off in an instant.

Being a french canadian myself I totally agree with you
DrHitch. Forgot to mention than not only do the domain name be available but also must comply with Canadian Corporation Canadian Law (no overlapping with other Canadian name allowed) Really like "Remedy" but does not pass the Canadian law validation : www.nuas.com
Again i really appreciate all comments and suggestions. Still searching and looking....

Thanks to all for the suggestion. None retain by the owner/president so far.

srikanth : Health is not valid because of the french aspect we are looking for.

hEREE.G : cliniqueservice is good but a clinique in french is a doctor office and we are a Health care provider (hospital)

NovaHammer: really liked the stat.com but domain name is taken.

It is essential the name be acceptable in French, English and pass the Canadian guidelines.

H.E.L.P. com or org = (Health Establishment Local Physicians)
medicaux.org (available) (French for medical)
troubleshooters.com (May be an insult but I thought it was clever)
SafeCentre
HealthConnection
Canadian Cure Centre
MedicauxPlus - Professional Physicians & Nurses
CompetentCare
CalmCare
BodyMaintenance - Responsible Health Care
Province's Health Care System
Prevention Health Care System of Canada

Give statistics and success stories of people that survived
and are happy again so more people can be educated
on seeing physicians more often for the benefit of
preventative medicine, healthy diets, exercise and
keeping young. Your stock will soar as that is the
new trend in America.

Simply it could be CAREHEALTH. I don't know whether it is fine in French as well or whether this name is available.

Anyhow, once your baby is named let me know the name.

Best Wishes,

kannan

How about BonMed or BonCare?

You could URL with .ca or .org to differentiate, if the name is taken by other companies.

Bon chance et bon weekend!
