Brainstorming For The Perfect Tagline
Posted By: kross* on 10/3/2006 7:41 AM (CST) 1250 Points
Hello everyone. I own a mid-size home health care company in business for 20 years; looking for a memorable tagline that conveys our position. Competitors, are large hospitals & Visiting Nurses Assoc. (VNA) which is the "Kleenex" of homecare & has been around 100+ yrs. They market around their technical expertise, "quality u can trust" "We care" and "We put you first". We are smaller & more personal. Our goal is to bring life into the home. Ex: Lonely 90 year old woman lives alone and has a wound; Dr. orders short-term home care. We'll heal the wound, but while we're there we also focus on finding ways to bring vitality back to her life long after we're gone. We believe everyone can live vibrantly on some level. We're holistic, fresh and innovative. My dilemma is that I want a tagline that conveys this message while giving a clue as to the function of the company as well. Final dilemma: We need to appeal to a very broad audience: patient and family, other community health providers, discharge planners, and health care professionals. Current ideas: "We bring good health to life" " We bring health care home" I would appreciate any ideas and suggestions. Thank you so much for your creative input!

"Caring for life in your home. No matter what, your health quality of living is our main priority".

It is quite similar to a sentence you´ve used in your post, but I think it might be very good.

Its shows concern, human touch and holistic atittude.

What do you think?

Hope it helps,
Tiago

Dear,

Just in a single paragraph you have explained volumes that you do. Of course, it would be sweet if one tagline means that all.

How do you like :

"We breathe life into Your HealthCare !"

"We bring life in HealthCare right at Your Home!"

Best Wishes,

kannan

Thanks to everyone for continuing to brainstorm. I love the feedback. To help refine what I'm looking for, I don't want anything too long--7 words max. I don't want to use any "invented" words and I want to stay away from anything purely functional that just says " we bring health care to your home" It just doesn't capture our personality. And this may be hard to understand, but I sort of want to stay away from the word care....as in we care for your health, taking care of you at home, etc. We do take care of people, but only on a very short-term intermittent basis. I want to conjuring up avoid visions of nurses coming in and feeding people or treating their illness, etc.... I want to focus on the jorney toward health, wellness, and independence, the ultimate goal of which is not necessarily a healthy person (most of our clients are 75+) but a person who finds a way to live joyfully and vibrantly with whatever limitations they have.

Here is another example: A woman needs daily antibiotic injections for a week. She is blind and bedbound when we take the case and will be blind and bedbound when we leave, but we want to find a way to enrich her life for the long-haul; so in the course of our care we look for opportunity. We learn that she used to love going to church. We arrange for The Bible on tape to be at her bedside, and we arrange regular visits from church volunteers. The injections were the "home health care" and the clinical outcome was that the infection resolved. Important yes, but the real value, the beauty and our passion is in touching this woman's life in a positive and lasting way that makes her life vibrant. (Vibrant is clearly a relative term.) I don't mean to be negative about any of the suggestions. I am just so passionate about what we do and I really want to find something that captures and communicates the essence of what we offer. I like the suggestion of "Breathing life into ....." and "Lift up your spirit..." and "Extraordinary health for ordinary lives" I am giving all this feedback to try to steer toward the right path, but I do appreciate every single idea!

My post should have said I want to AVOID conjuring up images of nurses feeding people......

I like..."It's not just health, its life"

Hmmm...maybe I should think about that healthitude thing a bit more....

Hi Kross, Thank you for the service you do. I had to pass on this
story as it reminded me of what you handled in your service. Every time I read this I feel for these people. I label you Earth Angels.

Subject: Wonderful story

THE CAB RIDE

Twenty years ago, I drove a cab for a living. When I arrived at 2:30 a.m., the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window. Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, and then drive away.

But I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation. Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself.

So I walked to the door and knocked. "Just a minute", answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor.

After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 80's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie.

By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets.

There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

"Would you carry my bag out to the car?" she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb.

She kept thanking me for my kindness. "It's nothing", I told her. "I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated".

"Oh, you're such a good boy", she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, and then asked, "Could you drive through downtown?"

"It's not the shortest way," I answered quickly.

"Oh, I don't mind," she said. "I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice".

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. "I don't have any family left," she continued. "The doctor says I don't have very long." I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.

"What route would you like me to take?" I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator.

We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.

Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, "I'm tired. Let's go now"

We drove in silence to the address she had given me.It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.

Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.

I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

"How much do I owe you?" she asked, reaching into her purse.

"Nothing," I said

"You have to make a living," she answered. "There are other passengers," I responded. Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly.

"You gave an old woman a little moment of joy," she said.

"Thank you."

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life

I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift?

What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life.

We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments.

But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT 'YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID, ~BUT~THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL.

You might help make the world a little kinder and more compassionate.

Thank you, my friend...

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.
