Create A Name & Tagline For Translation Biz

I have a lot of of difficulties to create a name and tagline for my start-up business. My dilemma is that I am new in the industry and being a freelance translator and project manager, I cannot think of any name or tagline.

I will provide the following
• Multilingual Communications and Solutions: translation, editing, terminology management, etc.
• Web site localization
• Transcription services (e.g. verbatims) in many languages.

What I am looking for is a name and a tagline that reflect the business identity, appeal to new clients and distinguish my services from other competing translation companies. The name/ tagline should be original, modern, different and unique at the same time.

You have to give us better direction if you want a name and tagline that will do the job.

What is it you're trying to communicate, and who is your target audience? You need to work on a positioning statement that expresses what makes you different from and better than others in your business; why someone should hire you; and what customer need you are addressing.

Let's suppose we come up with a dozen name candidates for you. How will you know which one to select? What are the criteria? If all you want is "original, modern, different and unique" (what's the difference between "different" and "unique"?), try something like Modern Translexus. I'm not recommending that, but it's not clear to me what you're really trying to say in the name/tagline, so any name is likely to meet the criteria.

You need to go back to basics and define for yourself (and for us) what makes your business unique. Who is the target audience, and what important unmet needs of theirs are you addressing? If you can't do that, maybe this isn't the right business for you.

You are absolutely right and here are my comments.

I want to create a full-service linguistics company whose absolu commitment to quality would enable its clients to thrive in a multicultural society and a global economy.

Clients will include big and small businesses, and I will also offer my services to translation bureaux. Companies that are in need of a project manager, translator, editor... to cover the extra work when deadlines are tight, or they are short of people. In some ways, I would be a virtual project manager in addition to the translation work.

I want to do an above and beyond job with each client: doing great on every project, responding promptly to phone calls and emails, never missing a deadline, be available to clients whenever they need my expertise. I thought about calling my biz "Above and Beyond Translations"!

In conclusion, I want to communicate: high quality, fast, and more efficient language services, professionalism, integrity, reliabity and so on...

Being different is also being unique. To me, "difference" implies both a distinctness and a marked contrast and "unique" means being the only one.

I hope I answered well enough to give you a general idea of what I am looking forward.

To all of you, I appreciate and thank you for your brainstorming because mine is "fried"!

You can name your consultancy as "Universal Dictums"

This means expression/instruction. As you will express the language of the world and ideas of your clients.

You can put up a punch line as "Generating ideas-connecting cultures"

One word name of Latin or Greek origin would be great. For instance, Nike was the goddess that personnified triumph and nike means victory.

You've already got some pretty good options, but since some popped into my head, here they are. Some may not be a single word, but may do a better job of making you distinct, which is pretty important. (And one way might be a promise to translate essential meanings, vs. literal words that may NOT represent actual meanings, as you know.) Most would need the desciptor "translations" attached.

In Other Words

Words & Meanings

You Said It

Essence.

Crux.

Capture.

Parallel. (Translations of unparalleled quality?)

Yes I think it is too long... but you could use something like this in your marketing... it's just pretty long for a tagline. Maybe you could use just: Connecting Cultures by Bridging the Communication Gap (still long)

I still like "Beyond Translations" best
