Urgent!!! New Media Company Looking For Tag Line!!
Posted By: fsk9777 on 12/10/2006 6:15 AM (CST) 250 Points
Hi, I am new to the forum and want to start off by saying this site is incredibly helpful!! I am in the process of creating a new company, my first, I am young and really nervous about the entire thing, but ambitious enough to know that the worst that can happen is I will fail!!!

The company is one that creates special reports for several different media, we parnter up with media and create supplements. We are global and will be found working anywhere from Africa to Asia to North America...and publish various reports on various issues...mostly economic.

I need a tag line, that would go with my company name which is GLOBAL PRESS GROUP.

Please help, I am working with a strict deadline and need to get the website up immediately ...I am soooo stuck.

Thank you!!

Who is your primary target audience? What is your desired/intended positioning? What distinguishes your company from others who do the same thing? In short, what are you trying to communicate in the tagline?

If we know those things, we can probably help you out pretty quickly. Without them, we're shooting in the dark. How will you know which of our suggestions is right for you? What criteria will you use to pick a winner?

BTW, your attitude is terrific, and you're about to embark on a great experience. Good luck. I hope we can come through for you with an effective tagline. Just give us some ammunition by answering the questions I've asked.

Thank you everyone for your comments! Ok, I made a rash decision but decided to go with this tag line....

Global Business Group
Think Big, Think Global.

What do you think? Is this catchy, does it work...I mean personally i am happy with it, but not sure if it is too cliche.

Anyway, thank you again and also for the positive support!! I feel like I am obsessed with this idea and my goal to get started successfully, I can't sleep, I just dream about this...it's hard because I am just out of university and when my all my peers are out joining big banks and corporations, I am wasting all my own money on a plan that may or may not succeed!!!!

I am sure I will be on here ALOT!

Let me know what you think of the tag line..and this may sound stupid but should I get it copyright?

Hello,
I like your tagline, short & catchy. However, it may be helpful to have one that is more descriptive: one that will help potential customers know what is is you do.
Good Luck,
Jo

You made a good choice with your tagline! It is not stupid to get copyrights on it - go for it.

And don't have fear about this - don't measure yourself against your peers - measure yourself against yourself and go with your dreams.

Short story: I know a guy who was flunking out of college. His parents were disappointed and worried. All he would do was stay in his dorm room "messing" with his computer and not attending his classes.

Guess what? He went on to develop an automated bidding system for advertising and is extremely (extremely) successful. Now they can't tell you enough about his accomplishments (versus his early seemingly failures).

Not everyone has the capacity to see what the dreamer sees - some only operate from safe places and cannot understand what a dreamer understands.

Wish you success. Let us know how you are doing with your new venture.

Your tagline, in addition to being a bit more descriptive, could also hint at "what's in it" for your prospects. Maybe something more like:

Global input for world-wise decisions.

or

It's not just information. It's ammunition.

or

Because knowing more matters.

Hi Again,

I still like your tag idea , but I think until you are better known in your market a more descriptive (boring) one will serve you better. You can still use "Think Big, Think Global" in your marketing

I would suggest something more informative like....

Global Business Group:
Special Reports for International Media

Global Business Group:
Your Media Resource for Economic Reports

Global Business Group:
Special Reports for Media Needs

I also like: "browncatfan's"
"It's not just information. It's ammunition" as a fun slogan or campaign.

Good Luck,
Jo

Good Luck.

Adding a lil more clarity to the 'dreamed' line. Think Big, and think global more or less connotes the same. But anyway its okay to take that creative liberty. Its very catchy, definitely urging,

Some thinking: you partner with media, help them in creating content, and publishes supplements on topics. On any global topic. for any global publication.

Writes. Reports. Worldwide.

Think Content. Think Global.
