Feedback On A Clothing Line Name And Tag-line?
Posted By: Necole* on 12/10/2006 11:17 PM (CST) 25 Points
I want to have a high end line and a ready to wear line called Esinem pronounced (SNM spelled out). I just wanted feedback what you think of the name and if it would sell and catch attention from consumers of the age 16- 23? Also if this tag-line for the line is catchy and makes a statement "Dominate your Style"? Thank you for your feedback in advance.

I think it is hard to promote new company's with names people don't know how to spell or pronounce... I do like the tag line.
Good Luck,
Jo

Actually, I like to name and the concept. There are plenty of strange names out there in that category like Piace, Issho, Muchacha, Tsubi, Siwy, Triple 5 Soul and so on and on. I believe this name with the tag will be catchy and edgy, which is what you need to be.

What is the price point on your line? Also where will you be selling it to retailers? Are you going to Magic, Trafik or other shows? These are probably more pressing questions.

Maybe it's me, but I'm picking up a sexual undertone in the name (S&M). If that's what your are looking for, I think it works and it works with the tagline "Dominate Your Style" as dominate ties in to S&M.

If you are not aware of the parallel which may be drawn, you may wish to rethink your naming convention.

I agree w/marketingriot on the S&M thing. But, I am all over your "Dominate Your Style".

I understand the attachment of the name and tag-line, but in today's world, you can still "Dominate Your Style" without the negative innuendo. Just to be a bit more cautious, words like:
WNR - (winner) Dominate....etc.
FRST - (First)

Just some thoughts

I like it...and it's memorable with the implied undertones. Gets people talking--Look at this label! Reminds me of a few other lines that word spread and stories were written about based on the implication of the name.

Harry Hallman,

I'm not sure yet what the price point is going to be. I want it to be affordable for the average everyday consumer, but it will not be low end priced. What are your suggestions or thoughts on what retailers would buy this line? Esinem is clothing that makes a women feel sexy. Not revealing but it will give off an attitude that exemplifies sexiness and control of the consumers style. I would love to go to the Magic show with this line.

marketingriot,

Yes I thought of that when I came up with it. Esinem (SNM) is actually the initials of my name. I knew about S&M, but I tried not to let that me deter me but help me in my decision. Sex sells!!!Lol!!! It grabs consumers attention, as long as it is marketed properly which I plan to do. If I dont take my marketing strategies too far, but give them only enough to make you wonder, then I think I could take a chance with it. Thank you for your response.

Necole, pricing depends on so many things like what is the item a top, skirt, or jacket. It also depends who you are targeting. 16 to 23 says college to me and they have less money to spend so the price would have to match. If you were looking at the a bit older demo like 18- 35 the brands I mention would be a good place to start. Typically a manufacturer (designer will sell for 2 times what it cost them ( in a small company like yours) and then the retailer will double it again and then some. So if you sell to a retailer for $50 they will sell it for $100 to $125 sometimes more. I am speaking about boutiques now not Macy's.

Good luck with your line and eventually you will have to go to the tradeshows to sell effectively. Perhaps rep can do that for you.

Harry
