Name/tagline For Web Developer
Posted By: msumner1* on 12/12/2006 8:57 AM (CST) 250 Points
Hello all,

I've been doing freelance Web development for about four years now, and I'm starting to get to the point where I need to make it an official business for tax purposes.

I'm having trouble coming up with a name and tagline for the company, and need some assistance.

A little about the future company:
-We write code to make Web sites interactive and powerful. This may include: user management, content management, administration panels, forums, polls, newsletter mailers, shopping carts etc. Pretty much anything that interacts with a database through a Web site.
-We always deliver our projects on time, and don't slap on extra charges at the end of the project.
-We charge less that others with comparable experience.
-We have great customer service and quick response time, and we are great listeners.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. If you need any more info please let me know. Thanks!

Here's a name, tag and marketing points that align with a presentation of professional quality and integrity, not just another techy geek!

Thanks for the input. I'm not sure if it's quite what we're looking for, but a good start nonetheless. I like the idea of staying away from tech/geek sounding names though.

We are trying to target small businesses who already have a Web site, but one which lacks any kind of functionality. For example, take:

www.BulmanDunie.com

which is a law firm in Bethesda. They have an old, outdated site. They could have a newsletter/blog that keeps people abreast of legal issues/happenings (they have one in print, but not online). They could also have a login system where clients can check the status of their case on a regular basis without having to call and feel like they're being a pest. They could have random testimonials from satisfied clients, and a poll to help them with their marketing strategies.

What kind of name/tagline do you think would attract a small business looking to improve their online image with some interactive/dynamic features rather than boring static pages?

Thanks again for the input so far.

Originally we were thinking of something like:

"You make the site, we give it life!"

but it sounds a little like it is insulting what they already have saying it is "lifeless" or "dead". any thoughts?

It also sounds a lot like the old GE slogan, "We bring good things to life"

How about:

We Give Life to Your Visions With Interactive Sites

We Breath Life Into Your Visions - Interactive Sites

Bringing Your Site to Life With Interaction

Breathing New Life Into Your Site

Put Your Site on the Cutting Edge With....

I'm liking these two. Any more ideas on a name though? I'm having trouble finding one that has an available url. There's too many highschool kids out there that just learned to program regging up the good domains...

It doesn't even have to be a real word, as long as it's memorable.

Thanks for the help so far, and I look forward to your ideas on a name! :)

It helps to choose a unique name so that it becomes your brand.

Gone are the days when search engine favored website domain names like web-development.com or programming-company.com etc.

Now it's all about brand. Also if you have a budget you can buy an already established domain name.

We have followed most of the above principles and the results have paid rich dividends for our website [URL deleted by staff]

It's a cruel web-world

Maybe a spin on the spelling or creative use of dashes

How about replacing "web" with "site" or maybe even "i"

For example:

SiteDezign
SiteFactory
iFactory

many businesses are going through the realization that without something extra, visiting their site is like seeing a sign, once it has been read - why read again.

from a site to a tool...

Thanks Frank! I think that captures their biggest concern with their site, but still has a nice ring to it. Any advice on a name? I've tried every one suggested and every permutation of them, and they're all regged.

Maybe something that's not even a word, but is still memorable?

just be careful using the word "tool" if the site is to have a UK audience as it has an unfortunate connotation and in the context as written does exactly the opposite of that which you are intending.

Good luck, Paul.
