I Need A Catchy Slogan For Pet Tear Stain Remover
Posted By: laburns1* on 1/15/2007 4:10 PM (CST) 500 Points
I'm looking for a catchy tagline for my company's product. Our company is named "Eye Envy" and it's a tear stain remover for dogs and cats. Any ideas would be great.

The last slogan we used was:
"The only thing you have to fear, is tear itself"

Our product is safe, simple and effective. Maybe a play on Envy??

Who is your primary target audience? Where do they live? What benefit do they need/want that they're not getting today? What is your benefit positioning promise?

It's really difficult to come up with a slogan if we don't understand what you're trying to communicate. Why did you stop using the last slogan? What would the new slogan have to have to be better than the old one?

Think about how you'll decide which of our suggestions you'll use. If you can tell us the criteria for picking a winner, we'll be able to come up with much better suggestions.

My target audience is pet lovers typically with small, frou-frou dogs, high maintenance, love to dress them, don't mind spending any amount of money on them. The animals tear and under their eyes forms a nasty red stain (low grade bacteria infection). Our product safely removes the stain.

Target audience is mostly west coast and east coast. Midwest, typically have bigger dogs.

I have no issues using our last slogan, I just thought something new would be great to use.

Hi Laburns1

Or whatever you really are called. Please bulk out your Biography so that we can help you better and treat you like a person! See Chris’s offer to get points for letting is “know who you are”:

http://www.marketingprofs.com/ea/qst_question.asp?qstID=16237#106704

I thoroughly understand the problem of “tear stains” having had the good fortune to own a white boxer which lacked the often fatal genetic problems associated with white boxers, but she did have the most amazing tear stains.

Now the problem was, should we do what we thought looked “Beautiful” or should we cope with what she thought was “Appropriate” She had a wonderful way of translating what was “Inappropriate” by attempting to surgically remove my hand, despite being the biggest sweetie in the pack.

So I guesses that when you are even applying your idea to “Froufrou” dogs, you have to bear in mind that they have a wild heart.

Think about how you can make your “Tear Stain Drops” acceptable to the dog. The owners will follow. We would have!

Best wishes

Steve Alker

I suck at creative, I would approach this from a behavioral perspective. What are the buyers' Wants. How can you appeal to them.

Have you ever analyzed the demographics of your audience?
Some Assumptions:
Ideal customers of Eye Envy would have the following characteristics:

Dog Owners (types?)
Income level (Mid to upper)
More Women than Men
Age: 25-45
Out of curiosity do you know the psychometric profiles of our customers. if you did you could do an session around key messages for your audience. then come up with the elements that would influence them.

With the caveat that I suck at this here is my attempt:

Something visual with a clown holding his dog in full makeup
Below is the picture of the same person in street clothes holding the same dog. The dogs eye stains are removed and the dog has the product in its mouth.

Pets are a reflection of their owners.
Stop clowning around and remove the stains.

If you don't mind a suggestion about the actual product name, Eye Envy, I would suggest changing it to something more descriptive of your product. Identify the problem and offer the solution in the name as well as the product itself.

When my doggie got stains, I hated the way it marred her otherwise perfect face, so with that in mind:

Eye Envy
...Beauty for your little beast

...No beast, just beauty

...no more beastly tear stains

...the stain remover that perfect pets prefer

...restore your pet's perfection

...for the whites under their eyes

...beauty to behold

...who's the cutest pet of them all?

...No more stains. Beauty reigns.
