I'm launching a wedding & event planning business in a suburb of Washington, DC. I want a name/tag line that resonates with the affluence of the area without being snobby. I'd like something creative, elegant and memorable, that rolls easily off the tongue.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Events of a Lifetime

Special Events

Current Events
... the latest in posh party planning

It's Your Party
... and we'll make it perfect
... let's make it momentous

some other elegant words to mix and match with celebrations, parties, events, occasions, affairs, moments, fête, gala, etc:
Splendid

Since you said you do events besides weddings, I'd stay away from the word wedding in your name. I think that's too limiting.

So many good choices. Can't wait to see what you decide.

I'm back again. After all those suggestions I gave you, I googled Wedding Planners Washington DC. You probably already know that your competition's names are across the board, but many use the word Elegant or Elegance and many have names that are Adjective + Event (or a synonym). So with that in mind, if you want to stand out from the crowd, then forget about my suggestion to couple an adjective with the word event, celebration, etc. Some of my other suggestions (and others') would still work well, especially the more unusual ones.

Go with something different but memorable. For example, a single word would stand out from your competitors and be easy to remember. (Like one of the adjectives listed in previous posts -- but not "elegance"). Then add a tagline that says something about weddings and events. Here are a few more ideas for names:

élan
Flair
Platinum
Beaux Monde
Glass Slipper
House of Wagner (your last name?)
Your Day
Undeniably Yours
Cherry Blossom (overused in the DC area?)

Another thing to help you decide: Are all your events elegant affairs or do you do fun and crazy parties, for example? If the latter, then you don't want your name to limit you.

Hope you don't mind my lengthy posts. You got me pondering this one....

Please ponder away. I am aware of the competition, and want something easily remembered and distinctive. I really liked elEvents, but the domain name is already taken with a wedding planner in southern Virginia -- two ladies initials, I think, and el-events.com is an adult site overseas. Not where I want to send my potential clients! I would be delighted to do fun and crazy parties, but that's not the image I want to portray. My personna is more on the elegant side. Thanks for asking, I appreciate all the great ideas. First name is Victoria, and have considered using that in some way, too.

I'd appreciate your feedback on a potential name & tagline:

An Elegant Affair by Victoria ~ nouveau elegance for your wedding or event

Hi Victoria,

I like the tagline. But as I mentioned before, I would not use the word "elegant" in your name. It's simply overused in your business. (I think "elegance" in the tagline is fine). The suggested name also seems a little long -- perhaps on business cards, etc, you could have the "by Victoria" on a second line, maybe in a script font.

How about just: Affaires by Victoria or A Platinum Affair by Victoria. (with an "e" it's French)

Before I read your latest suggestion, I had thought of
La Vie (the life). Could be: La Vie by Victoria. Since it's French, it would go with "nouveau."

Karen
