Need An Exciting Emotive Name For A Giant Slide
Posted By: thetarg* on 2/26/2007 2:02 PM (CST) 250 Points
We are building a vertical drop slide, the highest (40 feet) in Australasia. Participants hold onto a trapeze which is connected to an electric winch and are pulled up to the top of the slide (or however high they choose). The first 10 feet of the slide is vertical. Participants then connect with the slide on a huge radius (reaching 2Gs), shoot along a brief horizontal section, then up the other side by 5 feet ... catch some air and drop into a soft pit (foam blocks etc). Its a real adrenalin rush ... first hanging on as you rise, then having to let go, then the speed of the drop and finally the entry into the pit. name needs to be exciting but not too off putting.

Great ideas and taglines.

So far the Zoomer Rang is meeting with the biggest smiles down her in the south pacific, New Zealand. The boomerang is of course an Australian icon, but the name echoes the profile of the actual slide. Nice.

Swoop has a great ring to it. Kundalini's Drop ... sounds awesome ... who was that guy, or was she a girl ?

Free Fall Drop Zone (to combine a couple of ideas) sounds like it could include a few adrenalin type activities like the slide.

Hi again,

Just thought I should mention that "Free Fall" is the name of a ride at Six Flags, which is a chain of international amusement parks. There are none in your hemisphere -- not sure how any trademarking issue would affect you.

And if you like Zoomer Rang, but you want it to be more New Zealand-like, how about Kiwi Beak? Ha! Or Zeeeee...Land (with a gentle thud), New G-Land, 100% Pure Terror (or Thrill)

Sorry, I had a glass of wine with dinner.

me again...

would it be appropriate to use a Maori word? You'd be better at this than me, but I looked up "fear" and found
wanawana and mataku, both great-sounding words.
also teitei (high), whakatopa (swoop). Maybe combining a Maori and an English word would work: Wanawana Fly or Wanawana Zoom. You get the idea... but does it fly?

Great idea but a little culturally sensitive. Generally speaking its best to leave such words / names to business enterprises that are genuinely Maori owned / based.

Smiles here too for Zoomerang wins the prize and vote above...with a tag.

ZOOMERANG - Always coming back for more thrills!

Have the letters done graphically from a slide in bright colors.

Too much fun down there! Best of luck,
Kathy
