Wedding Package NamesPremium Member

Dear marketing profs community. This is a relatively easy scenario for you:

Our venue offers wedding packages. That means couples book their wedding in our venue and pay us a fee per person depending on the package they choose.

We have 3 different packages we offer to couples. They are currently titled with flower names: Frangipani, Tiger Lilly and Orchid. Each package is priced separately starting from cheaper to more expensive package. The inclusions in the package also increase in line with the chosen wedding package.

We are changing the packages we offer, but the principles are the same: 3 packages with different inclusions and pricing.

We need 3 new names to use in our different packages. We are looking forward to hearing your suggestions.

I don't think the name per se will make any difference. Wedding expenditures vary depending on the culture, parental support/contribution and of course wishes of the bride and groom (slightly irrational). It depends on who is evaluating the packages as each have different criteria. Not all will be swayed.

I find this is similar to the naming of condos or new home developments. It helps to identify an offering but the word itself does not have any association or connotation.

Having said that, here are several suggestions for your consideration.

Sensational
Phenomenal
Breathtaking

Down Under
Mountain
Over the Top

Earth
Venus
Mercury

Hi, down under

How are you?

I guess the difference in each principle offerings must be huge. How can one control the expenditure on wedding packages.. Well my advice would be:

Stars from heaven
Walk on the wild side
Bed of roses

Fare(word) inside all:
Simpleaffair
Cuteaffair
Smartaffair

2seaters
4seaters
6seaters

Good wishes
Palak

Why not keep it simple? From least to most expensive, brand them as:

Silver
Gold
Platinum

or, how about:

Celebration
Festival
Gala

Sapphire
Ruby
Diamond

Paper
Rock
Scissors

Okay, just kidding about the last one ...

The key is not to overshadow the value in any of the plans. That is why the flowers you used worked very nicely. You never want anyone feeling stigmatized by choosing an inexpensive package.

Therefoe I would suggest
Titling the Group:

"Love is All You Need, with Our Affaires of the Heart Packages";

Blissful Love
Enchanting Hearts
Majestic Elegance

I think the visuals you could use with each could be wonderful.
Each conveys love, sense of decorum and provides enough value, without any class association.

Good Luck & HappyMarketing

I agree with simple clasifications, the propossal: Celebration, Festival and Gala sounds very goods if you are aiming to evoke an order of value (to be provided) in each package.

For the names you'd pick you need to take intensive care to avoid negative labels: donīt stress on money related adjetives because donīt want couples that choose the cheaper package feel themselves as the less (money) lucky couple. All the falled in loved couples who celebrate their wedding feel they are in the greatest day in their lifes no matter the size of the celebration, right?

Usually, by the size of the wedding celebrations you can infer who the guests will be, in that sense, how about:

1. Intimate celebration: for small celebrations where family and close friends are present
2. Friendly party: for mid-sized celebrations, where list of guest become longer but keep still in circle.
3. Extravaganza: for long, long list where family and close friend lines seems to blur

I Need to give give credit for that last propossal to my wif, (so thanks you honey ;) )

Hello there! Hope these are helpful :)

Small, Medium, Large...yes that one's a joke!

What about having the numbers 1,2,3 but in a romantic language like French- unfortunately I do not know the translation.

Matinee, Featured, Premier

Elementary, Junior, Senior

Flower Girl, Bridesmaid, Maid of Honor

Ring Bearer, Groomsmen, Best Man

Thanks to everyone for the responses, papers, rock,scissors is the clear winner :-)

Phoenix One's comments are spot on, and is the rationale behind us choosing flowers name for our packages in the first instance.

Therefore although the value of the packages are different, we do not want people to understand that just by hearing the names.

This means the names that have a similar perceived value will be more favourable.

Hi down under,

I agree with Phoenix One and Luis Raul Marroquin. Who's to judge a very special day based on the amount one spends. Whichever package one buys from you is still an indication your service is the best regardless of the plans A B or C.

Theirs simple keeps things in true perception keeping your public happy for a special occasions. You could have names that vary around themes like: Garden Wedding, Mansion Wedding, Rennaissaince Wedding or http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml?type=learn-cat&id=cat247&rsc=SC2872... for other ideas that are romantic memories.

How about names of romantic couples from literature:

Romeo and Juliet
Tristan and Isolde
Lancelot and Guinevere

or for a more modern approach:

Rhett and Scarlett (from Gone With the Wind)
Tony and Maria (from West Side Story)
Jack and Rose (from Titanic)

i just chuckled because all three of those stories from the above recommendations had a very unhappy ending lol

that would be a very interesting session

"So, which package would you like? Which couple would you most like your relationship to mimic?"

hehe

dear marketing profs

The answers are good and thanks to all contributors but there has not been one yet that is standing out-a "WOW" factor- at least for me. What do you think?

And an interesting diversion. I am now asking this question to another forum: wedding forum, yes there are many future brides there discussing everything you can imagine about weddings :-)

I will keep you updated as to how creative the brides will turn out to be will be,meanwhile the postings in here are still on!

As a bride in wedding planning mode right now, I would have to say this: keep it simple. Make it easy to understand the differences between each package (through your copy, not the name) and don't make me feel terrible for living life on a budget (and not wanting to spend my life savings on one day, as I'm overly practical by nature...). With that said, I don't see anything wrong with sticking with the flower theme... something like:

* Rose
* Orchid
* Lily

Alternatively, you could try going with different city names:
* Paris
* Vienna
* London

What are the differences between the packages? If it's something like a buffet vs. plated dinners, then why not state that in the names?

Best of luck to you!

- Jill

Glad you like my gemstone suggestion.

I agree that 'diamond' should be the top tier descriptor. It's the gem that most people identify as being of the highest value.

Thanks to everyone who contributed and a special thanks to ghostwriter- who submitted the most popular name:

Sapphire
Ruby
Diamond

That's what we will use in the packages.
