Name For A Handmade Wooden Jewellery Company??
Posted By: hpeterson on 3/16/2007 4:13 PM (CST) 250 Points
Hi,
We are starting up a handcrafted wooden jewellery company. So far, our product line consists of earrings, rings and pendants made of real wood.
We are looking for a unique name and have been trying for weeks to find the perfect word that works.
We have a few guidelines for the name:
We want it to be organic/natural type name - obviously wood is a natural product and feel that the organic, environmentally friendly trend is very hot right now.
We will be using reclaimed wood - ie. wood that has been used and discarded or from trees that have fallen through storms.
We want it to be gender neutral as the rings and pendants are designed for both men and women.

The other challenge is many of the names we like are taken. Here are some examples of names we like that were already in use:

Forget me Knot
Willow

I really like the name ReClaim, but my partner is not so excited about it.

We also need a funky tagline and names for each of the lines of jewellery, if you are feeling really creative!!

Looking forward to hearing your ideas!

I wonder whether your partner would like it better if you used "ReClaim" with another word, to make it "prettier."

ReClaimed Beauty

ReClaimed Treasures

Reclaimed Pleasures

or, something different:
Forest Creations

I'm tired and hungry right now, but I'll try to think of others plus a tagline and post again.

Some good names so far. I note from your quoted (but unavailable) favourites that you are looking for a unique brand name, rather than a name that is suggestive of what you do / what you stand for. This is fine but makes the tagline an important component. For example.

Second Time Around
Hand crafted wooden jewellery reclaimed from mother nature

As a male I wouldn't be attracted to a 'jewellery' shop in terms of buying something for myself, but I would browse a 'craft' shop. But I can't think of anyother word to describe the pieces that you are creating.

Lots to think about. Good luck

Since you liked "Forget Me Knot," but it's taken, how about:

Knot Forgotten

and I like thetarg's tagline, "Hand crafted wooden jewellery reclaimed from mother nature"

For your Company:

Names: "WOOeD" or "WOOeDS"
Taglines: 'Naturally Enticing' or 'Enticing Naturally..'

I'd suggest you build this brand first before you get into sub-branding.

You could just list the different items as "The Bouquet of Trinkets" for now.

Best,
Jane

Here are some suggestions.

Woodall or Woodal

WoodCrest

Woodery

(Rood) or ReWood

WindelWood

I chose these because they're simple names
that are easy to remember, and have
potential to become a reputable brand.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck

I agree to avoide "re- anything" - If I'm going to have a re-something I expect it to be inexpensive and less than new price. Depending on your market and demographic, is the source of the raw material that important?

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and advice.

The name that is in the forefront is Knot Forgotten!

Thanks also thetarg for the tagline advice.
