Sales Letter Help
Posted By: bill* on 6/15/2004 6:38 PM (CST) 125 Points
I'm a PR person/freelance reporter who has been given some sales tasks. One of my assignments is to revise a sales letter for a web site design and development firm. Does anyone have a sample sales letter to share? Or can you point me in a good direction or to a good book to check out?

I did check search this site already as well...

Thanks

Dan S. Kennedy wrote a good book on sales letter writing, I checked it out of the library and I'm writing my first draft now.

G'day G'day

Before writing the letter in to some type of format I would suggest the following:

- work out what the company is good at within web development/design.
For example Increasing ROI vs skills in developing the right GUI for specific demographics.
Develop maybe 3 points of difference for your company.

- work out who you are targeting with the sales letter and what are the important factors for them in choosing a web development company.
For example the IT dept's needs would be different from a Marketing Director and tailor the letter to suit the person you are targeting.
Develop maybe 3 points for the different people you are targeting.

Then with these bullet points you can quickly and effectively "sell" your services. Just remember that the sales letter is the first step in developing the relationship, you just need to pique their interest - not actually sell with the letter - you do this more effectively with follow up telephone calls and a meeting with your targets.

Cheers

Two words - Value and unique. What value are you offering them that others don't have have? How can your services help them specifically? Can you prove it? Why are you better than the competition?

Generate Interest. Be clear about what advantage you can give them. Be unique, differentiate yourself.

One more thing - be real and genuine, not salesy.
