Mba For Quantitative Marketing?
Posted By: fobedoza* on 6/24/2004 2:08 AM (CST) 125 Points
I am going to be applying for MBA programs this fall. What schools are known for quantitative marketing? I know the big names - Chicago, MIT, Carnegie-Mellon. Are there any others?

On a related topic - What companies hire people that specialize in quantitative marketing?

Here is a list of US marketing schools:

You may want to contact Michele (just click on her name in the list to your right)...she is a research specialist.

Good Luck!

There really isn't a school that specializes in Quantatative Marketing. However; I can tell you that from an employer standpoint, MIT would be the most respected in line with that type of marketing background.

If you're going to go for an MBA, make sure you're doing it for the right reasons. What is your goal with it?

You asked what type of companies would use someone who specialized in quantitative marketing. This field is mostly used in B2C marketing. Large consumer goods marketers or market research firms specializing in B2C are likely employers.

I agree with Amanda, MIT is the best bet for an MBA in Quant. Mktg. However, do try Carnegie Melon as well as that too is pretty good.
As far as which companies would be interested, FMCG companies and market research companies, a certain sevtion of consultancy firms would prefer MBA's with Quant experience.

Almost all good direct marketing agencies, some "above the line" agencies, and most consulting firms hire folks with quantitative marketing backgrounds. On the client side, most Fortune 100 companies have departments that specialize in the science side of marketing...there are more and more opportunities as we move from mass advertising to micro marketing and the ultimate "1 to 1" or "demand" marketing. Reason -- companies no longer want to spend millions without the ROI to support it...check out American Marketing Assoication, the DMA, and INFORMS for jobs....
