I would like to know if there are any current new small businesses out there that are using social media really well.

Looking at local businesses such as solicitor, builders, farmers etc using social media to there benefit.

Been looking around but can only can find the main ones such as wiggly wigglers

Be a great advantage to my thesis.

Dear Freeriderich,

There are four small companies to add to Wiggly Wigglers featured here: http://mashable.com/2009/10/21/social-media-small-businesses/

You might also want to look at: www.socialmediaexplorer.com

And also: www.marketingpilgrim.com/.../social-media-and-small-business-getting- acquainted-slowly.html

I hope this helps you.

Freeriderich, I am curious what your thesis is? Meaning what are you writing a paper on? Pro or con social media for small businesses? Will you be able to share it with the forum here?

Thanks!

My Focus of my thesis is not exact yet. I got a few different ideas.

Im currently thinking about using Yahoo as a case study. Giving up the search engine game and focusing their game on the social networking especially with their new website which is a social portal.

Secondly I have found a good few reports in Uk that only 9% small businesses using social media, however one-third small businesses are going to step into the social world within the year. Probably going through the risks and benifits for small businesses with some good examples of small businesses that have succeeded and small that have used it half heartedly. Hopefully come out with a interesting conclusion.

But its still up in the air and finding research for it
