Think from the sponsor's position. Why should they provide money or in-kind donations to you? How will it benefit them? Why should they align themselves with you? How many people will see your event? Who are they? What ages? Located where? That's the sort of information a sponsor is looking for.

Jay's suggestion is an excellent one. May I also suggest that before you implement Jay's plan you first decide which companies or individuals you want for sponsors. Once you have that list - and make it a long one because most are likely to turn you down - then do exactly what Jay has suggested, but tailor each presentation to the individual or company on your list because you will have to visit or telephone each one.

I think looking for sponsorship for an event, you need to took out for the interest of the sponsors first, before you approach them, because, if am putting money down for any event i must look at my benefit. Again, what do you want to achieve with the event. you need to define that before you can approach me for sponsorship.
