Brand Manager Job Description
A major Caribbean conglomerate is seeking a Brand Management Guru. The Successful Candidate will be responsible for maintaining, developing, and increasing the equity of the Grace Kennedy and Company’s most valuable asset: its brand.
The Ideal Candidate
You are an experienced executive with a strong track record of success managing branded products for an internationally recognized consumer-focused company, with at least ten years experience in marketing and/or strategic planning. Your background includes a successful tenure with a major North American or European consumer goods or financial services provider. With your extensive knowledge and appreciation of Jamaica and the Caribbean, you understand the essence the Grace Brand conveys. The MBA degree you hold provided you with a solid business foundation. Customer segmentation, market analysis, and new product development are second nature to you. You are comfortable working in cross-functional teams, reporting to the highest echelons of your company, and have a track record of leadership with people and processes.
Responsibilites
The primary responsibility of the Brand Manager is to ensure that the Grace, Kennedy & Co. brand is managed in an active way to increase the value of this asset. This will involve consistent positioning across a diverse range of product categories, and marketing through a wide variety of media and markets.
Specific responsibilities of this position include:
• Development of a Brand Manual, explaining how the brand should be used, and what levels of decisions correlate to what types of usage of the Brand
• Conduct annual customer analysis across all companies and markets to understand customer perceptions of the GK brand, and to determine key attribute strength and opportunities
• Develop overarching marketing plans to promote the Group across categories
• Develop collateral materials, customized for each company, to ensure consistent and accretive use of the GK brand in all products
• Develop promotional programs to enhance the value of the GK Brand across the Group
• Assist operating companies in the development of marketing plans, especially where new products and/or markets are involved
• Assist operating companies with advertising programs, particularly to ensure consistency and maximum impact in all categories
• Consult on customer segmentation and other related analyses undertaken by operating companies
• Undertake brand analysis in new markets, and assist in designing market entry strategies
• Under the supervision of a committee of brand Stewards, drawn from the five key Group divisions, determine branding strategy for new categories
• Monitor adherence to Brand Manual and guidelines therein
• Regularly update Brand Manual to ensure consistency with changing markets and product mix
You will hold final decision-making authority on use of GK corporate master brand, in
accordance with guidelines passed by Executive Committee periodically in the Brand
Manual. (Some decisions will warrant Brand Steward committee or even Executive
Committee approval, as per the Brand Manual.)
Additional
This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer of the Group’s Food Division, and supervises direct reports. This position is located full-time in Jamaica.
