Need A Name For My Senior Care Business

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am starting a Senior Home Care business but I can't think of a name. I want something catchy but NOTHING with SENIORS in it cause old people don't want to be reminded they are old!!!LOL. This company will be companionship, lite housekeeping, Dr's appts, meal prep, food shopping and running errands. I want something catchy but also classy. Thank you so much

    Dear Lisa237,

You do not NEED catchy, you need relevant. In the same way that you believe seniors don't want to be reminded that they're old, I know that "catchy is not a selling strategy"™

Who normally employes you? The seniors or their adult children?
Whoever it is, it's the needs of your target audience that matter so aim at their compulsions.

Sadly, what you think you need is irrelevant: you're not the one buying the service, are you? Search through any of the questions I've answered over the last nine months and you'll find my response to requests for "catchy" names is the same.

    So, names:

    Home and Personal Services
    50 Plus Assistance
    Life Assist

Great answer from Gary Bloomer and I agree with it 99.99% with the exception that I wouldn’t shun being catchy if you don’t have to. For sure, address the issues he identifies, this is the core of marketing done correctly, but if you can make your message more memorable with a catchy name, then all the better – why not have your cake and eat it too.

Having worked with people and companies in this space, I can share that it is a group decision in which both the primary custodian (child, sibling, or other) of the elder person and the person themselves make the decision.

You are correct in assuming that high percentages of old folks who are not in nursing homes don’t want to be labeled or treated as though they are too old to still manage for themselves. This is why your focus on companionship and gentle assistance is definitely on the right track.

I suggest exploring variations of the following themes:
    * Partners – Life Partners, Partners without Parents, Partners in Time
    * Friends – Friends in Need, U Gotta Friend, Good Friend Network
    * Freedom – Freestyle, Freedom Providers,
    * Home – (Jay's suggestions above)

Best of luck and bless you for caring for our elderly and helping keep them out of nursing homes for a few extra years.

    John
