Another Question About Marketing Certifications.

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am dead set on obtaining a marketing certification (via. online) to further market myself as well as gain a better understanding of the industry. What I am NOT looking for is career advice, or a "certifications don't matter" type response.

Who offers marketing certs and classes that does not require an associates or bachelor’s degree as a prerequisite? Would you recommend one in particular? Do you have a cert?

I am a bit cash-strapped, so expense is an issue, and I am a bit impatient and don’t want to take two years to complete it (or I would just go get an associate degree). However, I am perfectly willing to work/study very hard to get it.

My current list of marketing certifications consists of:
UC- Berkeley (inactive link removed)
UC – Santa Barbara
(https://www.extension.ucsb.edu/cert/bml/mar/)

Can you help me add to my list and expand my options? Thanks!

It's not hard to use Google to find lists of on-line courses. e.g.
    https://www.worldwidelearn.com/marketing-courses.htm

And the recommendations above sound good.

It seems to me that you have three issues:

    1) cost and time
    2) quality of education
    3) value of certificate

If it were me, I'd start with the last issue first. For example, if my end goal was a job with an advertising agency, I would call a number of personnel managers at advertising agencies, and see what types of certificates they value. I would then choose between those on the "short list" based on the other factors.
