Market Intelligence, Current Trend?
Posted By: Praveen* on 10/25/2004 11:35 PM (CST) 125 Points
What is the current trend for companies providing market intelligence services? Is there an up trend, does globalisation have any role in the trend for these companies?

Jhosting starts were the best in months. BUsiness are beginning to believe the hype that companies are spying on them, so they should do it too.
Are trands up./.....I don't think so, but I have a headache. But, I am sure some trends are down.

do your best.'

Hi Praveen

Really depend the industries your looking into, but in a general manner, looking for instance at job offers in the UK, there are more and more roles for information, market insight, knowledge managers published out day in and day out.

In Europe, a company that wants to enlarge its market does not have much of a choice: it has to know what is happening elsewhere, nearest neighbours being the easiest to investigate. I am personally responsible for managing knowledge (and providing insight) accross 6 countries: UK, Germany, France, Spain, USA and Mexico for the industry we are working on.

Working with major brands (Coca Cola, Pepsi Co, Fritolay, Mars, ...), I am in almost permanent contact with their "knowledge" people. But many do n ot have a specific function, and you really have to tap into various services for each of them. Exhausting, so I am pushing them to have a single point of information that would gather the company knowledge.

My point is that since we have implemented knowledge management (processes, tools and integration), we have seen around 35% productivity improvement.

Regards

Nico

Praveen...

I'm not certain about trends in the marketing intelligence industry, though my gut-feeling would be that they are on the increase. To get some idea of the range of market intelligence on offer from various companies worldwide, have a look here:

Good luck.
