Looking For Tell A Friend Campaign Tips PRO Member

Posted by IamRobin on 250 Points
I'm about to run my first "tell a friend" campaign for a client and looking for any tips, tools, and lessons you can share with me. Naturally, we have no budget for a 3rd party app to handle the campaign, so I'm hoping we can manage it with the tools we already use.

Our plan is to ask people to tell a friend about our software, both parties are entered into a drawing for a set of targeted biz books and the friend will get the software for a discount.

Love to hear your thoughts.

Is your offer exciting enough to encourage people to participate? And will these tell-a-friends be good leads for your client? If you're not sure, spend the time to test the message/results before rolling it out. Otherwise, you'll be wasting a lot of time/energy and create a missed opportunity.

I would steer away from the discount and more toward a free upgrade or free add-on.

Thank you for the tips, but I'm not that concerned about the copy or the offer - we only have one product and there's no opportunity for upgrade or add-ons. What I most need to know about are the technical side of the Tell a Friend campaign. What tools, processes have folks used and found successful - or what hasn't worked that we should stay away from?

I use Referral Candy for my store The Business Tools Store www.businesstoolsstore.com It works very well, is easy to integrate and is low cost. You can check it out at www.referralcandy.com
I hope this is of some help in looking at what is available.

Well tell a friend is something different in today's social media age.

People no more ask email address of the friend in site. Rather gives URL that member can copy in their facebook wall and in return also expect some cash bonus or advantages.

Also make sure that the system issue bonus only when people make real purchase. There will be many people who will click the link but will not make actual purchase.

A good offer to the referrer will encourage them to broadcast this link in social media.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I guess what I'm looking for isn't what anyone has had any experience with. I appreciate your input.
