hi Kcabc,

we dont do home work here. Please read the Important Guidelines #5.

You might also want to have a look in the past questions section there are over 4000 of them!!!!

Please come back and tell us what YOU THINK and we will tell you if you are on the right track.

Please show us you are not being a Lazy Sponge ( as i was called the other day by my father) and have done some work. We are willing to help, but you need to help yourself first.

Oh and next time please post your question in the student category.

Have a nice day

Carl Crawford

Kcacb,

We've taken the liberty of moving your question to the Student Category, so that you get the attention of our contributors in a way that is commensurate with your situation.

And, as Carl said, tell us what you THINK, and we'll respond.

But the V A S T N E S S of your question makes it impossible to answer unless we were writing a Branding Textbook!

So, send us some specifics and we'll let you know how you did, OK?

Hope this helps!

Best,

::JBtron

PS: Check the "Search Questions" area for some answers that might be a bit closer to your immediate needs.

I'd like you to meet Helen, a new KHE member who turned her own inept student question into a productive thread here on this forum. You should visit her recent postings.

Can you accomplish what Helen did?

Hi Kcabc

What industry are you referring to? B2B B2C?

As others have said, your question is too broad and needs more information.

Have you searched through the library resources?

You can get more information from:

http://www.brandingchannel.com

http://www.prophet.com

http://www.allaboutbranding.com

As a start, how would YOU go about deciding to set a brand strategy?

Hope to hear from you.

Like any other strategy you have to decide what you want to accomplish
What you need to know and do to accomplish it
What resources you will need
What resources you already have
Where and how you will acquire these resources
how you will measure whether you have achieved your goals
What you will do when you do or don't achieve them.

I have never seen a more briefed up question than this and one which could have a book written on it. Anyways here are a few links that could help you find what you are looking for:

http://www.raynet.mcmail.com/product/brandfaq.shtml

www.brandchannel.com

http://marketing.about.com/cs/brandmktg/l/aa072003a.htm

i hope I was of some help.

Although the question is extremely broad I can think of the following:

Depending on the situation, here are a few decisions a brand manager might make:

Positioning: read the book “Positioning” by Al Ries and Jack trout, about giving your brand an identity that it will own in consumers’ mind

Unique selling proposition: identifying the one key benefit the product/service can deliver and its competitors cannot

Target market: defining which consumers should the brand aim at, in which geographical areas, etc.

Pricing, and also Packaging in the case of a product

Promotional support: which promotions should be used, price-driven, loyalty driven etc.

Now a lot of authors have written entire books on each of these topics, if you refine your question, you might get much more insight.

Good luck

Mehdi
