Looking at the fact that you have not received any responce as yet I think you will understand that it is a poorly written question.
Pros for telephone survey method
1. immediate result.
2. no waiting for answers.
3. can ask more questions to find out the real meaning of the answer.
4. Can give more explaination for the question.

cons
1. expensive,
2. hard to get people to answer
3. if the surveyee is in a hurry they might just answer for the sake of answering.

Hope that helps and you will post well written questions
Regards
Sanjeev

There was question asked quite some time back in KHE about getting through to the TA by avoiding Gate Keepers. I guess it is highly relevant in your case too. I forgot who gave this answer. But i thought that was a wonderful idea.

Answer said, when you are trying to get through to VIP customers for a solicitation or in your case a survey, the best mothod to use is TMT. And the process was, you first call up the prospect/candidate without sending them a mail and ask them if they receivedd it! A section of the list will say yes (avoid them), another will say 'Don't Know' and most of them will say 'NO'. The caller goes on to emphasis on the importance of the mail and assures the candidate to re-send it and asks them to look forward to an envelope with the logo and a solicitation sentence on it. The mail is sent out on the same day and after giving it time to reach the prospect, the call is repeated to find out if they received it. Most of them will remember the mail and would have gone through it.

This is for increasing response for the campaign using TMT. I guess, you can use it too.

Are you really interested in valid survey results, or are you really generating sales leads?

If you are truly interested in statistically valid results, busy folk will not be available by phone, your results will be skewed . You will need a more complex model (we used a "cluster" model on behalf of the Census burea). Contact me if you need more info.

I'm closing questions abandoned by students.

In the future, I'll make an effort to block the homework assignments that students like this one frequently dump on the forum.

Thanks for your efforts to help.
