How To Form And Market A Charity Foundation

Posted by Anonymous on 2000 Points
Last October my little brother passed away as a result of an epilectic seizure.

I wish to honor him in the form of specific charities that will be in association with existing national and wordwide organizations. The charities will have there own names relevent to him and his passions, but all proceeds will go the the research foundations.

His passion: Helping troubled youth ( i.e. "Street School", "Big Brothers and Sisters", etc.).

My Passion: Finding a cure for epilepsy.

I need help contacting, formulating, and creating such foundations. The goal is to not only associate with the top facilities in the world, but to obtain massive exposure via the media, celebrity endorsements etc.

Placing flyers around town and little cans on the countertops at gas stations is not good enough.

Any guidance you can provide will be greatly appreciated by not only myself and my family, but to the people we wish to help through this venture.

Jett I can give you an overview of a very useful process framework and suggest, given the personal nature of your request, it might be better to do this off site?

If you'd like to have a chat, email me at amindcoach@netscape.net with the heading Jett's Request'

    Hi Blaine,

I hope I can help you here.

The first thing that came to my mind was the phenomonal success of the Celebrity Fight Night Foundation here in Phoenix.

    http://www.celebrityfightnight.org/index_1.htm

Here is the history of it:

This started out small and has become huge. You can't buy tickets for it, they are just automatically sold out at all levels.

The amount of money and awareness t raises is unbelievable.

Check it out and let me know if you want me to do any legwork for you here.

    Hi Jett.

It's sad to hear about your loss but it's also great to see that you are willing to work hard to find a cure and form this type of organization that will benefit many people.

I wish I were working to be able to help you but I live in Nicaragua, and don't know too much about that, but the main purpose I'm writing is to encourage you to keep up the good work. If there is anything I can help you, just let me know, even if I'm far away, I think you could probably use some help in finding something on the Net or any idea that come up, I'll let you know.

    Hi Blaine
First off: my condolences on your loss. It seems to me that you are well on the path to healing, turning your grief into positive energy.

On how you can direct your energies – my strong recommendation would be to link up with an existing organisation and offer to use your marketing talents to help raise their profile.

One of my pro-bono clients aims to bring a message of hope to children who have been sexually abused. We have made an icon (a princess), which will go on T-shirts, colouring in books, stickers – and be sold through schools and retail outlets. The proceeds raised from the sales of these items goes to various charities that aim to prevent child abuse, and help abused children heal through love and care. The ultimate end goal for Princess Moonbeam is to have her own animated TV show where the issues that we address are woven into the overall script. It is a tactic that worked well with our local version of Sesame Street, where HIV AIDS became part of the sub-text.

Part of dealing with epilepsy may be destroying the stigma attached to the condition. Something like the approach conceived for the Princess Moonbeam may work for epilepsy, but I guarantee you that an NGO or research institution will not think about the world in this way. Fund raising for these institutions typically takes the form of tapping high profile people for large grants. A public campaign does more than raise money – it raises the issue, which is probably more important.

Create a Bazzar - once a Year and invite the major fast food chains to have their stands there..invite retailers to sell their products with a big discount bring a famous person as a guest,,invite the TV stations for a free coverage..make it look like a Yearly Festival and the money collected will be given to the FUND and people feel very happy that a donation was given..keep doing it every year the same month and it will become established ...
