You have a 250 words budget, a monitor and a keyboard, plus 10 other competitors. How you convince people to buy your old and rusty car, one that even you refuse to drive anymore.

Well, don't talk about it the way you did in your question. Play up any positives. Don't focus on the known problems (but also don't hide them). And price it appropriately.

What kind of car is it? Posh, MX5, mini, Toyota, ford?

Give it a paint job, does the engine work well, does it give good mileage to the litre of petrol, is it a classic car

Like peter said don’t call it a rusty old car, call it something like:

A super reliable piece of machinery that....

You fill in the rest.

Old rusty car up for sale. Excellent interiors, can be used as a couch-read a book, day-dream or snooze, but dont make love- it creaks. Claim depreciation benefit and then sell off as ferrous oxide. On offer, balance unused words, monitor, keyboard and 10 competitor? to add to your resale value. contact:raluca_bizz

If it runs, offer extended payment terms. There are plenty of folk who need simple transportation, but are short on cash.

Invite local art students to paint your car with colourful attractive designs. Invite people over for a look. Maybe someone might get interested to tow it away and keep it as an attractive eye-catcher.

Better still ask a motor company to pay you for advertising on the car. You might not feel like it disposing off. For example, Ford might like to say, "The Owner Got a New Ford".

This sounds like a guy/girl who is testing people to find the best idea. Then, once he/she has found them, they are going to hire whoever to market their products.

Who in the hell would sell a rusty old car?

Or wait-I know... You're a college student and your professor is asking you to sell an old rusty car. What you need to do in that case is tell your professor that nobody wants an old rusty car except a movie studio.

Wow! what fun! Anything will sell (even an old rusty car). The fun part is finding a perfect match! Once persons old rusty car might read like this to another:

Experienced car for sale: Knows how to handle the road, has been through much weather and survived, Has an excellent frame and is ready for your personalization. Only one new owner will be accepted ~ call today to apply!

Well, college student or marketing exectuvie poster, thanks for the reminder that marketing should be somewhat personal and not a blanket statement!
