Digital Magazines Have Fans
Published: April 18, 2005
(After April 25, 2005, this article will only be available to eStat Database subscribers.)

A survey commissioned by 101communications examines the habits of subscribers to digital magazines.
Why did respondents decide to get their news digitally? The top reason cited was that the articles are easier to save when delivered digitally, followed closely by greater convenience than print and the ability to search digital documents. Environmental concerns — saving paper — were cited by about one-third of respondents.
Just under 32% of respondents said they subscribe to a digital publication because they prefer looking at the magazine online or on their computer. In comparison, most print subscribers (75%) said they preferred non-digital versions because they are easier to read while traveling.

Almost three-fourths of digital magazine subscribers looked at a vendor's Web site as a result of seeing an advertisement, and 36.5% forwarded information about a vendor to a colleague.
