I Need A Slogan. I'm A New Realtor.
Posted By: mmccoy* on 5/13/2005 4:27 PM (CST) 250 Points
I am a new Realtor in a small but Enormously Growing Rural town along Historic Rte 66 in Arizona. I am looking for a Slogan. I want something Sophisticated but humorous. I love Music and Clothes. The design of my card will be Sophisticated and Classy, but like I said I want humorous. I love for people to "Have a Funny Day". Hope you could help me with my odd request.

How about:

YOUR NAME
"Get the best house picks - along Route 66"

A play on words of "Get your kicks on Route 66"

Something along those lines.

Good luck!

Your tagline needs to reflect your competitive advantage and this site can throw cutsie things at you all day long, however, the reality is that your competitive advantage is what people need to know, so that needs to be reflected in your slogan....

What is your competitive advantage? In other words, what makes you better than every other person doing what you do where you do?

This is really a cart-before-the-horse question.

Your slogan should reflect your positioning, but you don't seem to have a positioning (or you're keeping it from us, if you do).

Answer kwinters's question: What makes you unique in the marketplace? Surely it's more than a catchy slogan. In fact, if it's just the slogan, you're on a losing course from the outset.

Don't rush to something cute and attention-getting. That's nice, but it's not sufficient to really get people to hire you. You need something substantive that represents a real benefit to your target audience. Once you have that, then a catchy slogan can help communicate it in a memorable way.

The way you're starting is to design an attractive envelope for a blank piece of paper. Better to figure out who your primary target audience is, what makes them tick, and how you can solve their biggest problem. When you have that down pat, then it's time for a slogan.

The slogan should be all about the most important benefit you deliver, not about who you are and what you do for a living.

Michael and KWinters have pretty much said what you need to hear. If you are going to make a single sale of property it's going to be more about the property and the service you deliver than your personal tastes. Honestly, the majority of your customers could care less.

Listen to our advice. Slogans aren't going to sell more houses. Good quality service, strong and consistent messaging toward a target audience (and knowing who that audience is) and delivering on the message are what you need to do.

Thank you so much for your honesty. I am confused though. Since we have so so many buyers coming into this area, my target is Families and Investors. Also selling of those homes for the retired that are wanting to leave the rapidly growing area. I want to make sure everyone knows how devoted I am, being everything in this business is time sensitive, I am right on it! They could count on me for accurate, stress free, enjoyable experience. Because in this day and age we so desperately need this. So they could rely on me and not have to stress, I am available 24/7.

*NAME* Your one-stop shop for stree-free property. (shopping/purse artwork)

*NAME* I'll handle all the details so you don't have to! (door handle artwork)

Don't get stressed - get the best *NAME*
(stressed out artwork)

I'm thinking if you want to incorporate some whimsy, you can do it with your artwork, while keeping the "slogan" more professional.

mmccoy,

Sounds like you have the best of both worlds: People wanting to get in and people wanting out. If you truly care about the individuals and families in each of those disparate groups, you are the....."REAL McCOY."

Your personality will add the humor and music to the mix in a way that you decide appropriate. But your job is to convey, to those who may want to interview you, that you can do the job for them. PLUS, they will get the impression that it does not have to be heavy and totally stressful; it can be fun, as well.

Big growth in your area is a big deal for you. Don't blow it. You can earn an enormous amount of money helping people get what they want. Buying/Selling one's home is a VERY stressful event, as you know, so put yourself in the back seat. Ego-wise. Be happy that you have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and sing and laugh all the way to the bank. And you should dress well all the time. You'll be able to afford it.

I currently consult for a few realtors and like some of the responses above most realtors dont really have a USP, but rather talk about their accomplishments their sales volume and results and barely touch upon the consumer.
We have found good results in using you and your in our marketing.
ie: "Your dreams-Your money-Your backyard-Your agent"
Hope this helps.
Rick
