Preaching With Power To Encourage Changed Lives
Posted By: swintv001* on 5/31/2005 7:32 PM (CST) 250 Points
My ministry is just beginning to take off and I need a tagline. I have chosen, "Preaching with Power to Encourage Changed Lives". I need some input on this. I do not have a staff yet so I cannot run it by them; I am an ordained minister and an Evangelist. Thank you for your input.

Gidday SwinTV.

I'm not sure if your tagline is aimed at explaining how you do what you do (what it currently does) or is aimed at explaining what people will gain from using your services (what it doesn't do).

Typically a by-line will give the potential buyer/user of your services a better idea and more compelling reason about what THEY will get from engaging your services.

I'm not convinced your current by-line does that.

Suggestions could include

'Powerful preaching that helps you change your life'
'Empowered Lives through Empowered Preaching'
etc

This would allow you to 'sell yourself' whilst providing the actual benefit to others.

Best of luck

How about changing lives through the power of prayer

Swintv001,

Let me refer you to the words of Jesus....

"You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free"

First mistake I see in your tag, and I see it real often in the evangelical world today, is that you say it is your preaching that changes lives, it isn't, that is not truthful to say that....

It is God's truth that sets us free and it is his presence in truth that carries anointing to change lives....

I think your tag needs to cut through the rhetoric of powerful preaching (preaching is only powerful if you preach the truth, then it is not even your preaching that changes lives, but the truth delivered through you)

The power of prayer is a misnomer, prayer doesn't change things, God changes things, should we pray, absolutely, but the locus of changes is not found in the depraved human nature, but the presence and power of the spirit working in us and through us with grace and truth....

I applaud your effort wanting to see people actually change rather than not change at all "by their fruits you will recognize them"...so without changed lives, we have not witness to the gospel no matter what we say...

One fruit of walking with Christ is living honestly, putting down the lies and defenses we hide behing and engaging the world in truth, gracefully.....

I would lean toward wanting truth in your tag...maybe something like....

Preaching Truth for Changed Lives....

Preaching Truth for Internal change....

Preaching Truth, Free in Christ....

hope this helps...

I am very active in one of the fastest growing churches in the USA and I'd suggest a few things.

I would drop the word "preaching" it has too much baggage associated with it. We have "talks" on Sat and Sunday.

Changed Lives. One at a Time.
Changed without Compromise
Solid Foundation for Changed Lives.
Accepted. Saved. Changed.
Free Gift. Changed Life.
Set Free. Changed Life.

If you email my profile, I'd be willing to share ideas with you.

Good Luck, Brother in Christ!

Dear Swintv001,

No one seems to have asked the question, why do you 'need' a tagline? To be honest, there's something a bit unsavory to me underneath the surface of the question, hinting that the gospel message needs to be 'sold' like a pack of cigarettes or a new laundry detergent.

If your ministry is 'taking off', it is doing so without a tagline...so I'm just not sure why you feel it is so important. May I humbly suggest you think about that first, before choosing from the many nice suggestions you've received.

Brian
