Hi
marketing strategiest is the person who perpare the startegies for the marketing of product. when the new product is introduced there needs a diffrent marketing startegies for it and if its a continuation product it needs diffrent.
we first for promotion need to take in consideration that which product we are marketing is that is of tangible or intangible i.e services.
for promotion u can take first market research to know about the things where there is a need of marketing.
u have to c the marketing strategies of your competitor too..
then the quality of ur product and cost factor which customer analyse most.
then advertising - local, national or global depends upon the industry of urs and product and target customer coverage
i think that must have answered your querries
thanks for putting question at KHE

my favorite definition of marketing is by what it does:

"marketing takes the pig to the market"

the long version:

"marketing efficiently takes the right pig to a prepared market"

every time i start with this i get the full attention of my audience :-)

then i go into defining and detailing each word in the sentence, thus telling it all about marketing.

now only about the product:

we, marketers, call something a "pig" when it's ready to pass on to the sales force. that is a package, the sum of about 40 pieces or actions subsequent to the "technical release" of the product. this process of turning a product into a pig, pig-making :-), gives the product an identity, a certain positioning, a story, etc. i cpuld attach here the list of 40 pieces that make a pig, but in the consulting business i need to always stay alert not to give competition too much for free; therefore, i would rather mail it to you, provided i get your address.

i am very impressed with business machine's reply. i'm basically working for a pharm product promotion function. i'ld want to share one thing marketing strategists are useful if they work in tandom with other sales teams requirement or else they will make pigs for selling and horses will be the requirement of the market.

anyways, if business machine can and do not mind sharting those 40 pieces with me on my email id. ie mandarud@gmail.com it will be of great help.
