Dear Anjan
i m myself doing mba from Indian Institute of forest management. getting an internship is a very critical aspect of the mba curriculam because it also guides ur future prospects.
in my opinion you should gather information about the openings in ur field. generally this would be very difficult because there are no openings for such a short time. so u better try for projects( short term) in which you can get a fairly good idea of the field.
the best idea however would be to make some projects yourself and then send it to various companies. most of the companies if not all will respond to your project. you can prepare these project in concultation with your seniors, faculty, alumni and people from the industry in which u r interested.
Last but not the least keep on following the companies after u send ur project and once u get into some projects always keep ur eyes and ears open. make as many conbtacts as possible and sharpen ur PR skills.

Anjan,
Being in Banglaore, you have the distinct advantage of being in one of the IT hubs of the country. Though I am not the best person to tell you the "exact" companies to target, here are a few tips -

(a) Since you have specialized (or decided to specialize) in HR & Marketing, you should look at either Competency Mapping or Competitive Analysis as your preferred areas for Internship.
Most of the companies hire interns for this purpose, and you could do the same. Contact the HR Managers of some of the IT companies, and offer them this service. Am sure they would be encouraging towards this initiative. IT companies prefer Competency Mapping, where as Manufacturing Companies prefer Competitive Analysis in this regard.

(b) Bangalore also offers a large number of Electronics and Hardware companies - they have little to offer in this area, and I would not recommend you to venture into this sector.

(c) Finally, go back to your placement committee, and identify a list of alumni who are working in these sectors. They could be a big advantage for you. Do not ask for internship in FMCG companies, since they generally prefer campus recruits. Though, you can try if you are very much interested to do a sales internship, since that is what they offer to interns.

Hope this helps!
Regards,
Puru

Anjanprince

See if you can identify past successful MBA grads from the school with the same specialisations and contact them to see where they did their internships and whether they can introduce you

Good luck
