Your question is rather vague. Give us some more specifics, and you'll get better results here.

Razz,

If I understand your question correctly, the answer is still PowerPoint. It is easy to use, very versatile, and provides a very professional end result.

A lot of our presentations are in FLASH (www.macromedia.com) right now. The positives are the music and flow and capabilities of the software. The only real negative is that you can't go back during the presentation. So, we always provide hard copies of the presentation screen shots.

If you want to have a convincing, persuasive presentation don't forget to structure it properly:

0. First ask yourself (and answer :) ) what exactly do you want to achieve? Get money? Support? Additional people or resources? Convince? Change perception of a problem or situation?

1. Describe situation - the context of the problem (s).

2. Focus on it's negative aspects - make problem worse. Describe in possible detail losses, disadvantages, problems etc.

3. Present your solution.

4. Describe how the life will look after your solution. Describe main (or all) benefits.

5. Describe "how to get there" (briefly) and first step to take.

6. Summarize situation, bad aspects, solution and it's benefits, that describe first step.

General hints: use language of your target group (ROI to senior management, financial to VP of finance, technical to production man. etc) otherwise your presentation wil not be understood.

Know your target group - values, points of view, history of decisions in similar situations, "hot buttons".

Use graphics wisely - to visualize and stress main points. If you use Power Point - consider 2 and more minutes per one slide. Good convincing presentation should not be longer than 30- 60 minutes ie max 12 -25 slides.

Prepare well - 20 - 30 minutes per slide, prepare possible questions and good answers.

Scheme above comes from modern behavioral psychology.

Managers are problem - solvers so do not hesitate to present many "bad news" it (subconscioysly) urges to immediate action.

Good presentation flows smoothly - if it is very important - try it on friends several times and listen to feedback. Dogs are good listeners, cats are to impatient (my experience).

And remember - it is not important how much you say, but what is going on in minds of listeners. The secret of good presentation is to influence natural line of thinking, reasoning and deciding.

Hope this helps!

Have fun!

As mentioned a typical corporate presentation is usually created in Powerpoint.

The benefit of this software is that it is easy for anyone to learn and use. Templates can be easily set up and graphics imported.

I highly recommend this paper on Powerpoint by Edward Tufte, The Cognitive Style of Powerpoint.
http://www.edwardtufte.com/tufte/powerpoint

If you're trying to present information, any information, you should be familiar with his work. He's one of the most influential people in the design of information today.

This from his site.
Edward Tufte has written seven books, including Visual Explanations, Envisioning Information, The Visual Display of Quantitative Information, and Data Analysis for Politics and Policy. He writes, designs, and self-publishes his books on information design, which have received more than 40 awards for content and design. He is Professor Emeritus at Yale University, where he taught courses in statistical evidence, information design, and interface design. His current work includes digital video, sculpture, printmaking, and a new book Beautiful Evidence.

He runs seminars all over the country and is one of the best presenters. I highly recommend attending his seminars if ever you have the chance.
Entertaining and most educational.

PowerPoint is the tool everyone uses because it's easy and relatively quick.

Seth Godin wrote a short piece (10 pages) on what to do, and what not to do, in PowerPoint.

You can find it here http://www.sethgodin.com/freeprize/reallybad-1.pdf

Hope this helps.
