Website Update (service Software) Input Requested

Posted by Anonymous on 700 Points
Hello all,

Many of you have given me great feedback for our old website www.axcis.net. We have made some major changes...

We have been working on a new name and look for the company. Although it is still being worked on, I wanted to get some feedback on the new site. (Please keep in mind that it is not finished or promoted yet in any way) The plan is for a bold home page to catch attention, and the simple content pages. Many of the pages/ links are still in progress.

Old: Axcis.net www.axcis.net
New: High 5 Software www.high5software.com

I am looking for:
1. general feedback - new site compared to old site
2. any major red flags or recommended changes
3. Ideas for content in the "white box"... what should we put here?

Thanks,
Jo

you don't have any "problems" on your home page to click on. for example, I'm a SMP, and I have these certain problems in my business. You make links that describe these problems "losing billable hours", etc. I recognize that I have that problem, then I click on the link to see what your proposed solution is. also consider capturing email addresses for follow up right on the home page, with some sort of GOOD contest, like a free software, not just a white paper that nobody has time to read.

    1. Your solutions page will be your second most viewed page on your website. If people only saw your home page and your solutions page (without reading more than 100 words), would they get what you do or how you can help them?

    2. I like how the tag line below the "Software Designed for Field Service" is pretty direct about who you serve & that you can help their business run better. Maybe give it more prominence.

    3. The thumbnails on the Solutions page should link to the overview page of that solution.

    4. Consistency is completely missing like others have pointed out. If you're going to have gray top n bottom + centered layout (which looks nice) on the home page, stick to it on the back pages.

What if you were in a big store and when you went from 1 room to another, everything changed. The roof went from high ceilings to 9ft ceilings, floors from marble to vinyl that seems to be peeling off and the walls from from nicely painted with expensive paintings to bare wall with holes. What would you do? Me, I'd run back to the nice room. Online, that means the back button.

I agree that the difference between the landing page ( a good solid design) and the internal pages doesn't work well for me. I would carry the header throughout and that also gives you an easy to recognize navigation.

I see you are on Google Analytics and that is great. Being able to analyze a site gives you the opportunity to tweak the content and design as you go forward.

I would put the navigation on the bottom of each page in HTML and I would do an HTML site map with a link on the bottom. These are not for your visitors but rather search engines. It makes it easier for them to see you information and bottom navigation will not distract form the design

I would list the "software for field service" in larger easier to spot text.

The main graphic on the site doesnt say field service to me. The picture under select your industry says field service..... I like it

I would add automation, manufacturing technology to your list.... It is a very rapidly growing segment of the market.

Thank you. I'll try to email you to be added to your mailing list, as I could probably use that type of software.
