Marketing & Adv. For A Startup Retail Hair-care...

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi,

I am planning to start a retail hair-care and beauty shop/store, and need help with marketing and advertising.

My other thought is to become a distributor for my country for some of the hair-care producers. Can someone advise me of how can I approach these companies and explain to me how does this work in practice. What do I need to do to become the distributor?
Too many questions :). I appreciate all comments and suggestions!

To become a distributor, you will need to enter an agreement with the company to distribute their products. There are usually different levels/benefits of distributorship based upon, obviously, the amount of product you distribute for them. There are most likely terms you will need to abide by which vary from distributor to distributor (for example, how you display/market products, price, distributor region, etc.).

Have you selected a name and design for your store or are you in the conceptual phase of everything? For example, are you going with "all natural" products, salon products at discounts...

    Hi Marketingriot and Peru,

I appreciate your resposnes. I thought I could start a store that would sell 50% of salon professional product, and other 50% would be a mix of various beauty products. I have already done market analyses, and it seems it would be a good thing to go with such a shop.

I also contacted several distrubutors of salon hair-care that are not at all present in my country.

Anyhow, do you guys have any additional ideas how would I approach marketing and advertising for such store and such new hair-care products?

    Thank you all,

    Hi,

I've been in this business for about 12 years in the US. About 3 years ago I started with the Weavemasters Hair Extensions line and it has proven the most profitable for me. I sell human hair, wigs, and hair growth kits. I was able to start small and grow at my own pace, without putting out thousands of dollars upfront.

They helped me with all me marketing and set up needs. Maybe its something you may like to look into. www.weavemasters.com. Hope it helps!
