Building A Glossary Section For Better Seo

Posted by Levon on 500 Points
I am currently engaged in building out a glossary section to a website in order to enhance the efforts of our SEO. I was originally considering a single page with anchor links for each glossary term. I was going to point in-links throughout the site at these anchor links on the glossary page. Is there a more user-friendly SEO methodology in achieving maximum effectiveness. Would a single page for the term work better? Would a rollover work better (where as when you roll the pointer over the term the definition comes up)? What are other SEO Gurus using on here? Maybe add a tagging system at the end of each term? What language is best to use with a glossary?

I have used site build it (via your link) and unfortanately was not impressed by its various limitations. This was several years ago via a client's reccomendation and we eventually migrated to a CSS/HTML site build out.

What I am asking for here is not terminology on SEO (got plenty of that to go around) - but the best way to implement a glossary section for a website in order to effectively promote organic traffic. I have suggested an anchor linking system, or a single page dedicated to each term type approach. What are others oppinions on adding a glossary section to a site. What language did you build yours in? How did you implement it for success?

I have optimized glossaries before and it is tricky to structure them in a manner that they are able to be picked up by "define:" searches on google.

This is not a time consuming project and I would typically provide the answer but this one is a bit too involved to go through in a forum. You'll probably need some help on this if you are seeking to extract the most possible exposure.
