I think Professional Services is a very wide field and the answers are going to be similarly varied depending on the specific area the respondent might have in mind.

Can you be a bit more specific?

Are you talking about accounting, financial services, strategic consulting, marketing consulting, website development, marcomms...

Or were you trying to get a general idea across a whole gamut of professional services types.

Since I happen to know you are a very experienced and knowledgeable chap, I feel sure you must have had something specific you were looking for respondents to focus upon... Care to share?

    Andrew...

The best approach to this topic that I've heard came from a guy called Laurie Young, former Global Marketing Partner at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. I've just done a quick internet search, but cannot find any published work by him!

However, I do have a copy of a slide presentation that he gave when we invited him to speak at our local CIM group a couple of years ago. If you'd like a copy, drop me an e-mail (address on my profile page)

    Hope that might help,
    Bob

"Professional services" covers a lot of ground, and what might be appropriate for, say, marketing consultants might not be so appropriate for accountants.

That said, there are a number of relevant issues covered in Rasputin For Hire : An inside look at management consulting between jobs or as a second career. While the book is targeted at people considering consulting as a second career, there is plenty of good stuff in there for other providers of professional services.

Book available through Amazon.co.uk. More info at www.rasputinforhire

    Good luck.
