Rumors Of My Death...

Posted by SRyan ;] on 1000 Points
...are greatly exaggerated! Before things get out of control on my Facebook wall (ahem, Steve and Randall!), let me assure you that I live. I also breathe, but with the staggering new levels of tree pollen in Houston, I can't say that I'm breathing very well.

Yes, I made the agonizing decision to leave MarketingProfs. I'm going to miss my colleagues -- they are such terrific people! I'm also going to miss interacting with all the Pro members.

I've updated my KHE profile page so you know what I'm doing next.

I'm sure you'll see me hangin' around KHE again, asking for sage advice from this generous and wicked-smaht community. Maybe I'll answer a few questions, too, just like the good old days! Heaven knows I've learned quite a bit since I found you guys in 2003. ;]

p.s. Not sure how many points this is worth since it's not really a question! I've got lots to give away, so I'll ante up 1,000.

Shelley? Now I'm sure that the name rings a bell. Perhaps some one could elucidate so I can respond appropriately.

Please don't bother me tomorrow, we're huntin’, shootin’ and probably fishin’

Shelly? Was it that gal who could actually shoot straight? Pass the port Henderson, I'm staying up late tonight so tell cook to go to bed.

    Thanks for the well-wishes, everyone!

Juliet, hear hear for women, wit and wisdom! I hope to dust off my KHE shoes soon.

Closing this question/post on Monday... that should give Steve enough time to finish hunting wabbits.

Got it! Percy Bysshe Shelley - poet chap. Lived in Field Place outside Horsham lovely little house, Bit small. Only 12 bedrooms and small servant’s quarters but a good deer park. Just up the road from Uncle Bill’s old house which was a proper house. Bit gothic though.

Poet. Funny chaps poets. Write all sorts of words and never make any money until they are dead. Bit strange if you ask me. Mind you, his wife wrote a cracking book based on one of our family chaps we had to keep in the attic – Frankenstein or something.

Closest we had to Frankenstein was Sir William Harrison Cripps who was Surgeon General and Surgeon to the King. Off his rocker. Said that smoking, drinking and no vegetables were bad for health. Crackpot

Pass the brandy, Henderson, Its breakfast for heaven’s sake.

Then there’s that woman who does marketing. Won’t find her writing

    “Hail to thee, blithe spirit!
    Bird thou never wert—
That from heaven or near it
    Pourest thy full heart
In profuse strains of unpremeditated art.”

Without insisting on at least 50% in advance. And then the royalties?! I grant you that it’s a beautiful poem but not protected over using it in all those soppy cards? – and Noel Coward borrowed it for his play - Blyth Spirit – Noel, if our Shelly had been around in your day, the bill would have been in the post.

No, you are right. We are going to miss her for getting us out of muddles, and fixes and moderation and technical stuff which is way beyond my brain, but let me assure you that she will have a following. We won’t be abandoning MarketingProfs (Which unlike those venal gits, the MP’s in Westminster, will not be losing Members in their droves) but I think that many of us if not most of us will wish to stay in contact and wish you well.

Right Henderson – get the car ready for church and for heavens’ sake open a bottle of champagne, It’s breakfast not a funeral and then we can toast Shelly.

“To Shelly Ryan, may God look after you and may you and your clients prosper.”

PS I wish we had an edit button on this thing so that when I spell someone's name in two ways, I could correct it without causing unnecessary offence.

Cracking Easter service and looks like Venison for the next 4 months.

I want some of whatever SteveA is smoking!

Best of luck, Shelley. Don't be a stranger to the KHE. And let us know when your website is ready for prime time. Perhaps we'll be able to come up with some neat marketing ideas for you.
