Help Me With Market Research- Chance To Win Ipad.

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hello everyone,
I'm a business school student, currently trying to get impressions from marketers and/or business owners for a market research survey I am doing. There is some funding for the project, so there is a prize of an Apple iPad for one lucky survey participant.

I'd appreciate any help that you can give in helping to distribute this survey-- what are the best resources I should use?

    Hi,

Before distributing the survey, I would fix a few general issues with it:
    1) you ask for the respondent's detailed information up front - move it to the back of the survey because
    a) your front part should raise respondent interest, and typing in your own info is as boring as it gets
    b) respondents like to get a feel for the actual intentions of the survey before having enough trust to give you personal information

    2) the questions of interest are too numerous (often measure basically the same thing) and mainly closed-form; where are the open-ended questions with room for detailed respondent feedback?

    Good luck!

    Hi Koen,
    Thanks for your feedback!
The reason some of the demographic information is up front is because the survey questions change based upon the early responses... I don't want to be asking questions that the respondents don't know anything about. In any case, the demographic information is hopefully broad enough that people will not feel that there is any invasion of privacy.

Closed form responses are important in this survey for accumulating usable data. Unfortunately, open ended responses are very difficult to tabulate well for the sort of measures that I am gathering.

You are welcome ! If your questions change with the demographic information,it is indeed necessary to ask them early. Still, I would start with a few questions that give respondents the clear impression the study will be of interest to them, and that their opinion will be listened to. A few open-ended questions are typically useful in this regard
