Market/competitive Analysis Research Project

Posted by mgoodman on 500 Points
I could use some help with secondary research on business schools in the US/Canada. I’m interested in market size, dollar value of teaching materials (e.g., textbooks, case studies, course packs, etc.), and some sense of who the market leaders are (for teaching materials), how materials are distributed, etc.

I'm specifically interested in undergraduate and MBA levels only, not PhD or executive education, etc. Interested in 2-year and 4-year community colleges and smaller schools as well as major business schools.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on how to approach this, and any leads for who might be able to do this job as a paying gig. I would provide a clear statement of objectives and suggested approaches, limitations, etc.

The question is: How would you bill this, estimate time required, and approach the project? (Feel free to pass this on to others you may know who would be interested.)

Timing: Ready to begin approximately January 17. Would expect results in 7-10 days, but can be flexible.

Thoughts, links, and comments welcome here, or feel free to contact me via email using info in my profile.

    Hi Michael,

The best people to delegate this to would be those with lots of previous knowledge; i.e. who are working, or used to work, for recruiting/competitive analysis of US/Canada business schools. My own previous employer, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, would be perfect as it is close to and draws many students from Canada. I will pass on your request to them, so that either someone from Tuck or from Dartmouth can contact you.

    hi michael,

I passed it on right away yesterday but did not get a response yet from my Tuck contact. Did you get any? If not, I can ask again or try a different contact. Do let me know,

    Cheers

Nothing at all Koen. I appreciate the effort. I think the Dartmouth approach makes a lot of sense, and I'd be eager to correspond or talk with someone there. Thx.
