Car Magnets

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am looking into having some magnets made for my car and my husband's car for our dog business. I am also going to put business card holders on each car. We both drive MINI Coopers, which tend to get noticed.
My question is how much info is valuable on a magnet? I was thinking the logo, and a list of basic services (Training, Daycare, Boarding and Off-leash Park) along with the website. Our website is the business name, so should be easy to remember. Should we bother with the phone number on the magnet? To me it seems most people will memorize the website, not a phone number. If I'm parked, they can grab a card from the holder. Anything else I should or shouldn't consider? Since these are going on MINIs, they won't be huge magnets.
Thanks all,
Annette

I agree with Phil - need phone - and landscape would be better than portrait. Not sure about the business card holder. Do you attach that on the car each time you park? I'm a little concerned about encouraging people to come up and "mess" with the car - what if they take the holder - or scrape your paint with it, or something equally nasty? If you really want to make it happen - think about getting the cars wrapped! Good Luck!

I need to figure out how to put this in landscape without having a ton of dead space. On all of our stuff the logo is the moon, with WolfBrook under that and Dog Club & Park under that, it would look strange to put it all on one line to take advantage of a wider magnet, right? I searched all over the web looking for design info, but found nothing that wasn't very obvious(use bright, complementary colors and a font that is easy to read, duh).
As to the card holders, I have quite a few fellow daycare and kennel owner friends who use these and have gotten great results. Unlike a bunch of companies on here (national, or web based) we are very much a company that will only be used by people that can drive here in a reasonable amount of time, so folks that see our info in the local shopping area parking lots or parks for example are who we need to target.
Here's the card holder I will be using.https://www.vehiclecardpockets.com/
Will play with landscape layout and repost for comments (I hope ;)).

YES on the phone number. I, for one, have contacted businesses after I saw their vehicle signage while sitting at a stop light.

Also, it is easier to read a magnet designed in landscape format, because if someone's reading from their own car, it can be tough to look further down on a vehicle next to you than what's straight ahead.

I don't *love* the gray background of the sign, unless your car is a bright color to offset it.

Sorry about the gray background, I just did that to show the total sign since my pdf was just showing on a huge white background with no parameters as of yet.
The only issue I have with the phone number on the magnet is if I'm out and about I'm not at the office answering the phone at that second, but I'm not real excited about plastering my cell phone number on my car. Just a 2 man business, so the landline phone isn't always manned. Guess leaving a message is ok with most people? The cell number is on the message though.

If you don't want people calling your cell phone, don't put that number on the sign. You could have you office line attempt to ring through to your cell phone to give the "we're in the office" feel.

If you have the budget, consider a car wrap (for example, https://www.carwraps.net/). You can put better graphics on it (imagine a field of dogs playing, for example) and get noticed from all angles (no business cards needed).

I'd suggest getting a toll-free number and having the flexibility to route it to your cell phone when you are not in the office, but when you are there, having it ring to your landline number. It's easy to set up. There are many toll-free providers that can do that for you and you can even set up your account online. And, if possible, I'd also suggest getting a vanity number, one that's easily remembered. To Gail@PUBLISIDE's point, people will see your phone number as they are driving by, so having a vanity will make it much easier for them to remember it, and call you.

Ok, here's what looks to be a near final product. Any input is appreciated. Wondering if I need to put dashes, commas or something between "Training, Daycare, Boarding" also should there be a comma after the word "Private"? I had pawprints as bullets kind of in the original and can put those back if those would be better?
Thanks all, took me all weekend to get some time to play with it, so sorry about the delay on awarding the points for the question.
