Not sure what the overall theme should be for a Valentine's Day sale in a more rural area, since I'm a city boy. I've only seen websites for a Farm & Ranch store, so I don't really know your store's positioning in consumers' minds, and how to cast your business in a romantic light.

Still, as spring beckons, you could try something as simple as:

* "Let love bloom before the snow melts."

But why focus on the overall theme? It might be better to advertise the merchandise that sold best last February in an amusing way -- alongside photos of animal "couples" showing affection to convey your "love-in-bloom" theme.

Show a beautiful spring coat, for example -- and show two horses looking at each other adoringly. In a "thought balloon," one of them could be thinking, "A coat like that would make me feel frisky."

I suspect most people think that animals "in love" are adorable -- cows and sheep and horses and cats and dogs. Two of them together, nuzzling or snuggling or just staring into each other's eyes.

It's right from the Cole Porter song, "Let's fall in love," where the lyrics say that "Birds do it, bees do it, even educated fleas do it . . . . "

Done right, your advertising could convey a light-hearted approach to Valentine's Day that would make people smile -- and spend a moment considering your offer.
