Tagline For Shopping Center

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am trying to come up with a tagline for our shopping center: SouthBay Pavilion Mall. It is the only mall in the City of Carson and it is currently under a redevelopment stage. This mall has been through so many changes in the past 15 years but none of those changes has been successful.
Our company bought this center in 2009 and I am eager to change the image of the mall to appeal more to the residents.
There are a number of anchor stores: Target, JCPenney, Sears, Old Navy, Ikea, FootAction, Panera Bread, Five Guys Burgers.. and more but 60% of our tenants are mom and pops.
I'm trying to find the right tagline to capture all audiences yet not oversell the image. Something subtle and fun and family or community friendly is what I need. Any suggestions?

So what's going to be different about this incarnation of the mall that'll likely make people think that it's worth a visit with fresh eyes? What makes your mall fun/friendly and/or good for the community? Have you asked your shoppers to tell you what they like about the mall these days? The message needs to appeal to them - so consider using their words and/or thoughts. You might be surprised what they think is special.

Ever since we acquired, the mall is cleaner, well maintained, we've invested in higher quality decorations during the holidays, we've installed more speakers inside and outside for mall music. We put on a lot of events involving the community.
We are still working on turning around some mom and pop tenants to bring in national brands but so far, the traffic has increased due to a better maintained mall and the events that we offer.

I'm trying to Marry these taglines together.... where I don't have to use the word "Community" on one of the taglines and "favorite" on the other.

I like the "shopping destination" and "personal touch" ... any more suggestion?

It sounds to me as if the key change -- the thing that shoppers will really perceive and value -- is NOT the cleanliness or the holiday decorations or the music.

I suspect he key difference for many people will be the events you hold -- what's going on each month that defines your center as different from other places I could shop.

Now maybe those events can't become the BASIS for your tagline, but I would make sure to choose a tagline that you can use alongside those events.

If all of your merchants participate in some way in your events/promotions, then you might consider a tagline like:

    SouthBay Pavilion Mall
Large stores and small -- we're your neighbors!

    OR

    SouthBay Pavilion Mall
Where neighbors meet neighbors for shopping and food and fun!

Then make sure your events and all of your promotions deliver on the brand promise of "neighborliness."

    Hope this helps!
