Researching Customer Retention Rate For Paid Nl

I am trying to come up with a method, or even a service, that will let us take our client account data (name, date of sign up, email, etc etc), and our payment data, which contains the email of the client (which is what links it to the account list) and come up with analytics and metrics based on that data provided.

Trying to calculate the retention rate for subscribers to a paid newsletter.

Tried salesforce, but I think I'm over complicating it.

Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated.

    From my experience, the retention rate for subscribers to a
    paid newsletter generally sees its steepest drop off after the
    first billing period, with this number going down as month two and month three slide by.

    After three months have elapsed, members that tend to stick with membership plans seem to hover at anywhere between 80 and 70 percent.
