Copy For Quotation Cover Letters

Posted by audreyewalker1 on 125 Points
Hi all,

I'm a new sales rep that has been asked to tweak our quote (quotes for service maintenance contracts on critical power equipment as well as quotes on critical power equipment) cover letters to make them more "sales-y"

Any suggestions on addressing the relevant information (what is being quoted, summary of the scope of work, the price and when the quote expires) in a compelling way and what else can be added?

Thanks!

Describe the core benefit in some detail, so that the recipient can picture him/herself being a hero by selecting your proposal/quote. And then list a few features that contribute to that benefit.

The real secret to a sales letter is to tap into the mood of your prospect. Tap into what they want, dream of and desire - and you have a sales letter that will put a bomb under your business' profits.

In the US most men want to be a hero, as Mr Goodman says. Now just because someone wants to be a hero means they are dreaming, because few people get to be heroes in real life. Those that are usually get forgotten after their 15 minutes of fame, then it's back to the grind.

I am personally in favor of a professionally printed image piece to be included with marketing presentations and proposals. You don't want to put a lot of technical detail, and certainly not pricing information, but you want to ascribe your company's key core competencies.

No one reads brochures. However, most people will pick them up, look at the pictures, glance at the headlines, and feel the weight of the paper. Whether you like it or not, they will make an assessment of your reliability and quality and professionalism on the basis of the materials they hold in their hands.
