Choosing A Title For My Exhibition

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
My latest work consists of 20 hybrid creatures, sculpted out of earthenware clay and mixed medium. These sculptures are all mounted on wooden stands. This collection is a light-hearted satire on human and animal behavior which plays on similarities that blur the differences between the two. For example the vulture hybrid can be interpreted as a depiction of humans who become very interested in family affairs when death is looming. It is said: “They act like vultures.” This is sad given that vultures play a crucial role in our ecosystem and yet this comparison is made which belittles them to make our own ill-fitting behavior acceptable.

So it should be a title that plays around with this idea.

Human mythology (in the myths, animals were commonly used to display human activity of an extreme form - like your vultures. It brings a wholly new meaning to Noah's ark!)

Mix 'n Match - humans acting like animals (thinking of Dutch plasterers, they're called muurvarkens - wall pigs).

    Potty people

I couldn't find your clay figures on site, I loved the dragonfly you'd painted!

Which do you like - we can come up with way better stuff then. forget the points: this is about getting you a decent tagline. OK? That's what we're here for, and it's nice to help. it's a reward in itself.

now: it's dinner my tummy keeps telling me.

You so helpful :) i like the direction of thought. And yes the body of work (Hybrid Human/Animals) fit nicely in with the noah's ark idea. You go eat now. will brainstorm some more

Dinner was lovely (with a French cotes de Gascongne, lightly chilled) - and an hour on my vegetable garden looking for onions that I was absolutely certain were there. They were, thankfully.

    Having taken a look:

    Metamorphosis meets the minotaur

Some of them look like the Egyptian Gods. Tall, erect figures with an animal's head. They knew a thing or two, those Egyptians.

    A human menagerie
    animal pantheon.

    Wojjerfink!

YEEEEEEEES that it. HUMAN MENAGERIE love it, it sums up the concept in a nutshell and still keep it wide open so that the viewer can come to his or her own conclusion. Thank you so much. I am so happy now. Please give me your email or email me on my website, I would like to send you a digital work just to say thank you.

By the way dinner sounds really yummy :)
